Why doesn't everyone hate the warrior of light?

I feel like this is one of the many reasons for Haurchefant's continued popularity.

NPCs on this game either revere you, spit on you THEN revere you or they're villains. And it's meant to show how powerful you the WoL have become, I get that. Haurchefant so far is the only NPC that seems to see you and treat you like a person. A very powerful person but still a person. Even the Scions don't seem to do that. I got the impression that they were supposed to see us as "family" of sorts but they're framed pretty badly at times. Especially Minfilia. I don't even necessarily dislike Minfilia, the game just frames her poorly.

Haurchefant doesn't want to fall on his knees and worship the ground you walk on while calling himself useless, he just wants to help you and be your buddy. Or your lover. Matter of interpretation that.
