I have a tough time using KB-M on games because it hurts my hands.
I used the same logitech controller for about 7 years.
When 2.0 came out it really didn't like my controller so i shed a tear and bought something that was compatible at the time - an (official) X-Box360 wired USB for PC.
While it took some getting used to (Dpad in different spot), I really appreciate the more ergonomic feel (the way I can hold the controller more softly even in /seriousraidmode)
Not to mention its plug and play, no worrying about desyncing or any other BS that controllers with programs might give you.
I can't say it will be the same for your wife, because I have longer hands/fingers. But that's how it is for me ^^.

I normally dont use a controller while i'm doing dungeon / raiding. But for gathering and macro crafting I like to use the Wireless Xbox 360 Controller, most ergonomic. I have a Logitech F710, but find it uncomfortable for long time use.
Otherwise I stick with my G600 mouse and G13 gamepad.

I use to use a Xbox360 controller. I used it for comfort, because nothing beats kickin back and playing game. But unfortunately there is just some limitations you just can't get past with a controller. I went to just standard keyboard/mouse for awhile, and it was a lot better. Then I tried these two guys. Logitech G600 mouse, and Logitech G13 Gamepad, and I never went back. Compared to the controller, this is a completely night and day difference for control. It does take some time to get use to using them. But once you do, going back just isn't possible because of all the freedom and control you get. The mouse is just awesome, because all of those side buttons are automatically configured to your 1-10 hotbar, and when you want to shift/ctrl the other hotbar, you have a additional right clicker which will get you onto the other hotbar for those keys. It's hard to express the control you get from just that alone. You don't even have to look at your action bars after awhile. It just becomes second nature to use those side keys with your hotbar. It's nice.

I use a Dual Shock 4 with InputMapper (formerly DS4Windows). It's quite nice.
...I just hope they fix their windows 10 bug :/
