This makes no sense. If the shield isn't expended, it simply means there wasn't enough damage to break it. It has nothing to do with whether or not a person is "under protection". The lower potency is a valid point, the cast time, not at all. This would be different if the galvanize effect also increases defense, but it does not. It is only an hp fodder.

Let me clear it up for you.

-When a SCH finishes an adlo cast, they can immediately begin to cast their physic spell, which will land ~2.5 seconds after the shield is applied.

-When an AST casts aspected benefic, they need to wait ~2.5 seconds for the GCD before beginning to cast their next spell, which in most cases (benefic, benefic 2) will take another ~2 seconds to cast. Those heals will land ~4.5 seconds after the shield is applied.

Take from that what you will, but potency aside, one cannot use nocturnal aspected benefic the same way you would adloquium.

Eh, maybe. I've had a few dungeons lately that have gone a bit smoother, but I definitely feel like I have to work a lot harder to keep the tank up. The lack of AoE and mitigation at level 50 is very noticeable, though and a real pain.

Gravity is a level 50+ skill, it can't be used in level 50 content. I treat it more like a Flare than a Holy considering it doesn't have any additional effect to it and it requires a target, though it's potency is the same as Holy.

You are correct.

However, front side loaded is much better than back side. You can use abilities off the GCD immediately following aspected benefic. Like jumping into cleric stance, putting on disable, drawing/using/shuffling/RRing a card, time dialation, lightspeed (lol), swiftcast, etc. Also being frontside loaded leaves less room for mistake, if you realize late that a big hitter is coming, ast is going to catch the tank with the shield where the sch will not.

^ seems like a player issue.

On whm for speed runs I would divine seal regen, then spam cure 1/2. On ast I regen, then spam bene 1/2. Both get the job done, whm just does it in less casts. I have had no problem using gravity 3+ times on big pulls in current content.

In regard to dungeons specifically, there is a tactic that I often use which involves swapping to Nocturnal Sect to apply a shield buffer to the tank before they pull anything, then quickly switch back to Diurnal Sect. Sometimes it can be a little risky to do that if the tank is all "go go go" but even a small HP buffer will help with those large pulls.

Indeed AST needs some love. I hope SE is listening!

I think op should be more clear on what "BIG" pull they r talking about. Because you cannot compare a level 50 dungeon with a level 60 dungeon.
Level 50= gear sync & not all abilities/ traits r unlocked
Level 60= gear isn't syncd & all abilities are unlocked
Also you should explain what kind of mob the tank is pulling & how many r they tanking in 1 pull.
What kind of tank were they also helps
- dark knight
- vit warrior
- str warrior
-pld

Or you could just give them a Stoneskin and stay in Diurnal stance lol.

I've practically given up on nocturnal sect. It just doesn't do anything except make you cast more selected benefics... Which just chews up MP.

There was one fight I noticed nocturnal sect making things a little easier:

Floor 4 Alexander of all things. A lot less little hits and a lot more OMG damage flying around.

Offtank hitting all the orbs is a great example. Shield up at pop, shield again after 2 hits, shield and heal at end. Really makes a joke of the mechanic.

Also: hitting self with shield means taking an orb doesn't leave you as open to a follow-up hit that can kill you.

Shielding tether target and the tank buster are great.

Heavensward hasn't really shown me fights outside of floor 4 where preventing damage was preferable to slow-ticking regens that have time to work.
