It's only been a day! Due to the timing of maintenance, we didn't get the part finished before sending our ship out again. So, I'll let you know. Waiting a full day to get results before re-running an experiment may be totally reasonable in real world experimentation, but it's sooo annoying in a game xD Gimmie delicious data now, dang it!

I'm going to set up a spreadsheet for my FC's adventures to record what happened. I'll throw a link here later, if others want to enter data too.

Need to make a correction on my previous post here, I made a mistake, but anyway:

When our ship was rank 25, we had cleared 1 though 8, and it was otw to 8.
It just returned from 5>6>7>8, hit rank 27, and we unlocked the 2nd ship now.

It seems to me that visiting sector 8 does the trick.

Thanks for clearing that up, and I think you are right!

Brought back Balsa Wood LUMBER (the stuff you need for the prototype after the Enterprise) from Sector 8.

Sector 7 is closest to sector 8 out of the ones we have got unlocked.



Other results:

Sector 6 = deep green crystals -> further anomalies => empty crystals
Sector 5 = deep red crystals -> additional anomalies detected. Airship condition insufficient (stats not high enough?)
Sector 7 = fire crystals -> additional anomalies detected. Airship condition insufficient.


Also, sector 8 has a rank 20 requirement

Confirming that S11 unlocked after visiting S6 (S7 > S6). That R30 tho.

11's the greyed out silver 3-star on the top left, 6's immediately to the right, and 7's the 2-star loc to the right of 6.

It seems there may be more than 1 way to unlock a sector.

We were still rank 22 and hadn't unlocked sector 8 yet (was using invincible forecastle along with enterprise aftcastle, so 76 surveillance). I had also been flying 6-5-7 to increase time/range efficiency. On this trip we took a route that would take us closest to sector 8 (6-7-5). I wondered if the trip from 6-7 would do the trick.

When she came back, our flight log showed that we had actually unlocked... sector 10! Which happened going from 7 to 5.

But then when I finalized the report it said that we had unlocked sector 8! It happened at the same time that it told us we ranked up to 24. I'm not sure why it would show sector 10 being discovered in the flight log and not show sector 8, except maybe it was unlocked because of a different condition.

So she is on her way to 8 now, time to get that 2nd airship!

discovered sector 7 but its greyed out? Airship not a high enough rank i guess?
