Kirxus has a point. Allow me to elaborate. While AST is certainly difficult to master, it can be done. Attention to detail with this class, mana conservation, and understanding your card system and how it works greatly improve the job. Just reading the tool tips on your cast bar will not help. You need to cast anything that buffs you or your party and read the tool tip on your buff bar. Until Krix pointed this out to me I never realized that Luminiferous Aether was a mana regen. I use it every chance I get in conjunction with spear as it reduces the recast time to 96 seconds. I can also speed run all of the level 60 dungeons at this point. For those that don't realize it this job is highly dependent on your ability to make snap decisions.
Edit: With the whole RNG thing with our cards. If you have played AST enough you begin to realize instead of looking at RNG hating you, you should start taking advantage of using your card or shuffling it and so on. Each of those cards while giving a small buff does really matter in that as pointed out to me 6/6 of those cards help in conserving mana. So sure its great to get that one card, but the decision comes from making use of it or not. I always royale road spear and the reason is simple. Everytime I have done this it has always given me the aoe version of our draws. So by the next time I use it I can buff the entire group.
Point is, this class is highly technical.
The main problem I found that, regardless of LA, there are still MP issues because of enhanced benefic. While the instant cast is absolutely amazing, in the long run it creates mp issues that sometimes even speared LA wont be able to recover from. The longer the fight, the worse it is for astro. The aoe is significantly weaker, while the faster stronger direct heals make up for it, it just isn't practical. Astro is definitely a clutch healer and number one in regards to that. Someone stated in another thread a while back, "The ultimate wingman", and I have to agree.
I absolutely love the curve of astro and I am definitely going to switch back to it once they change it up a bit.
I like how Galdous Tansarville(topic creator) doesn't even have AST unlocked and Cole Sovereign has AST untouched at 30 but tell us how over powered the job is because of one skill that doesn't last long and has a cooldown of 120 seconds along with ridiculous comparisons.
Why don't you try PLAYING the actual job and see how underwhelming it is at the moment?
As much as I want AST to be awesome, in it's current state it needs some fixing and telling people how OP the job is without even touching the job yourself is the most dumbest thing I've ever heard because you have no idea what Astrologians are going through right now.
I admit it is an amazing skill and I do love it. However OP is a stretch.
Honestly, this seems to be just another whine thread from a WHM or SCH (who hasn't even played AST) main to try and nerf one of the few awesome skills AST has.
It's just beacon of light from paladin healers in WoW, only that move stayed on the target indefinitely.
Not sure why this version has a short duration and long cooldown...
And I think Astro's are fine. Aspected helios could maybe use a slightly higher potency though.
