Most of what I run into is them not putting on grit or using defensive cds. I had one tell me yesterday," Paladins don't get shield oath until 40 so I'll be fine tanking without it." (Grit)
.....got the boot real quick.
Really? I've run with plenty of DrKs ever since I started on my Astro at level 30 and, honestly, they're some of the easier tanks Ive healed in a long time.
o.o
Diurnal stance gives AST increased cast speed, while Nocturnal stance gives them 5% healing buff, effectively closing the potency gap. I haven't had much time at 50 but I've yet to have issues with healing throughput, and only resort to Benefic II spam when the tank overpulls.
Most DRK I've run into have been competent, with one exception of an overeager low level tank that AoE pulled in Brayflox without CD's.
Right, so as to say that an average DRK is about as good as another average tank, bads will be bads regardless. Not fully understanding the DRK toolkit myself yet, I've encountered a precious few, likely PLD or WAR mains, that have a really good handle on self healing and mitigation on DRK.
A good DRK knows when to throw up their damage mitigation buffs, DRK has an ability like Rampart on PLD so DRK should be easier to heal than WAR. OP, I think you've encountered a lot of bad DRK tanks that don't mitigate squat. I have had not many DRK tanks while levelling WHM to 60 but I've healed one good one and one poor one.
It depends on the player of the DRK.
I'm loving DRK at the moment to be honest I just get a bit stressed during aoe pulls but I've been like that on every tank xD
I've not had any issues yet, leveling with a friend who is DRK. I find its actually really easy to stance dance.
Though one time when I entered a level synced dungeon I forgot to put Diurnal Sect back on. Thought I gave him regen and popped cleric stance. Whoops.
In low dungeons it is a bit stressful making sure you get all aggro and to keep all aggro, but when you get higher(speaking for PLD experience mainly XD) aoe pulls are very simple. The hardest part is managing your cooldowns, a good tank makes it easier on the healer by making sure they pop their damage mitigation buffs so they do not take as much damage.
