I just wonder how many people exaggerate on the forums the number of runs they claim to have run. I have 3 relics and didn't require that many total for one dungeon.

It's not like FFXIV has some sort of secret spawn conditions for Rank S Hunts or had certain times during the initial Atma farm pre-nerf that actually gave a higher chance to drop the item. I wouldn't doubt that you get a higher chance of the item dropping if you're actually doing the dungeon with a normal zodiac weapon, and commendations could possibly affect it too since they are counted before the game rolls the dice on whether or not you get the item. I do agree though that it seems like if you spam the dungeon it seems less likely to drop, so it may actually be in your best interest to try something else for a bit if it isn't dropping.

Some people are genuinely unlucky though, and if you think you're one of those people then it's probably best if you don't count how many times you've done Haukke Manor (Hard).

Pretty sure this was debunked during the developer FATE event. S rank "secret spawn conditions" are all hinted at through the flavor text at the NPC's that tell you about the hunt mobs, some of them are just... really vague.

bell curve droprates. Somewhere someone went 1/1 in all 16 items while somewhere someone still hasn't received their first drop. exaggeration but you get the idea.

If I had your luck I would of done my third. My second was easier by comparison but still had a couple runs in the 20s.

If you notice, he singles out the theory of farming atma in certain areas at certain times of the day. The fact that he even mentions it directly after talking about some players who won't even get one within 24 hours. He also goes on to say that "I think everyone has better drop rates than us," hinting that there was a trick behind getting them. Regardless, the method doesn't guarantee a drop, nor does not doing the method guarantee that it won't drop. It was simply noted that people experienced increased drop rates during those times in those areas. Even when using this method, there will always be those unlucky few who it just refuses to drop quickly for.

Regardless, it's a moot point now that the Atma phase has been trivialized to the point where it's even easier than getting the base relic, and 3.1 will allow players to skip the Relic Reborn quest line entirely.

I honestly just hate the RNG on this, most of my dungeon runs.. perfectly fine, highest I've got out of most of them was 15, now I have Stone Vigil HM to do, only on 4-5th run on that.
NOW onto the main problem, it feels like the Questline for Method in his Malice is there to try and destroy my spirit. WP took fifty-bloody-three runs to get a drop out of it, now I'm on Copperbell and done 19 runs, still no drop. I am literally losing my effort to even do it because it's getting stupid, if Hullbreaker and Qarn are going to be like this also, I'm just going to give up. I was hoping to get my Zodiac before classes start. Classes start tomorrow, and I've been doing this for over two months whenever I've had the time.

Thanks SE, your RNG screwed me over once again. Whatever hidden conditions there are, I don't know it, and I doubt I have better drop rate than you guys.
