Invisible shield suggestion?

Just took a screenshot of my PLD without the shield. I think it looks really nice!

I suggested this long time ago, and SE basically said no, but they may be looking into an energy shield or small shield.

Their reason: It looks weird....like shield bash with no shield. Just like eating a tera flare with no pants.....

The ironic part is that the original Bird-of-Prey line couldn't be shielded when cloaked. Nor could it even fire it's weapons!
If a PLD can't block or lob, what good is he!? :p

Just use the small buckler shields, works especially well if you are wearing heavier armours.

lol I don't follow the analogy but I get what you're trying to say. It wouldn't be a PLD without the shield. It's kinda like Link wouldn't look complete without his Hylian shield or something.

No shield sounds kind of silly imo, but perhaps a fervor (holy-esque) themed energy shield would suffice? Could make multiple versions/new shield type too, call them rune shields or something perhaps boost cnj/whm spells (and can be glamoured). Then have at least one of them invisible until actions made or acted upon (so generally invisible until summoned for protection), or at least while passive look like a neat accessory (like beads wrapped around your gauntlet and arm).

i don't know how they do it there, but wouldn't it be easy making a new or copypasted shield without any models or a transparent one at that? i don't believe they won't do it from what i read.. can't use shield lob/bash you say? i could argue that the shield is invisible.. but still solid..

plus shield lob only throws energy that's shaped like a shield.. the shield does not exactly leave your arm nor does it have any returning animations..

if they would like to compromise.. i'd like to see Cross-shaped shields or Rosaries/Rosary beads like the idea above.. or just a shield that says HOLY SHIELD

PLD is sword and board.
You want sword but no board, play DRK when it's out.

Eeh I've seen too many characters that I don't like use two-handed swords. I'm not really too keen on using Dark Knight when 3.0 hits I've already set my sights on using Astrologian. Too bad there isn't a one-handed sword only class or something but I still love Paladin!
