My "Miqo'te were genetically engineered" theory is mostly an obscure joke about a certain famous visual novel featuring precursor-engineered cat-people (with a crazy male:female ratio, but leaning male) and inherited destinies involving hope and renewal. If the Miqo'te actually do end up being one giant Lamento ~beyond the void~ joke though I'll be able to say I called it, but I may facepalm first.

Additionally, prior to this data, all we knew was that miqo'te migrated from a southern continent into Eorzea and it was speculated that it was Meracydia due to it being the only southern continent we knew at the time. At least now this info pretty much confirms it. -
