I don't use macros...
I was healing my tank who was MT'ing Cerubus and Wolfbane's is also attacking me and the other alliance tank doesn't take it off me, I had a smart smn who gotten Titan egi out and saved my ass so at the end of the run they got my commendation situational awareness is awesome when ppl know when to apply it this smn did!
I guess I'm one of those Summoners who keeps my pet on sic T_T My reasoning is mainly because I'm focusing so much on my rotations for my player to do the most damage possible, since I continuously mash those buttons without any pauses. I also have difficulty managing my hotbars... since I'm on PS4, I use a controller (I like it better than mouse/keyboard, which actually creates lag on the PS4). Believe it or not, I target easier & faster using a controller. Anyway, back on topic, it's difficult to manage pet actions, having to constantly switch back & forth, back & forth, back & forth between your player abilities and your pet abilities.
While, instead, I can focus solely on maximizing my player attacks on an enemy, and have my egi (garuda) go all-out on the same enemy (I DO use <sic> on them).
I do, however, get complaints from players here and there about the knock-back attacks... From what I can tell, there's no way to avoid knock-back attacks when the egi is set to <sic>, though. T_T
Maybe I should just start experimenting fighting with it on Obey... I haven't really used those striking dummies, so maybe I'll see if it works well on those to see how to handle it properly.
I have Ifrit on sic when dealing with trash mobs and then Garuda on obey when dealing with bosses/mini bosses.
I'm going to be brave, and ...mention that I had to read your post a few times for it to make sense. >.O Period and commas. Don't hit me!! I'm a nice guy, really. XD Here, I fix it for you:
I was healing my tank, whom was MT'ing Cerubus. Meanwhile, Wolfbanes are also attacking me, but the other alliance's tank doesn't take it off me. Thankfully, I had a smart smn who took out Titan egi and saved my ass. So, at the end of the run, they got my commendation! Situational awareness is awesome when people know when to apply it--that smn did!
...OK, now you probably deserve to hit me. ^^;
Also, yes, you are a fabulous SMN when you know which situations to use which egis. I brought out my dusty Titan egi one day and tanked the rest of a dungeon when a tank rage-quit, and we won the fight D: I think it was a low to medium level dungeon, but still, it's amazing @_@
I've had my pet on obey since I first started levelling SMN, as I'd often take on mobs and fates much higher than my level (SMN+pet+choco=OP). The shockwave move from Garuda is good on a mob I know won't move orrrr in ST when someone can't position the clockwork dudes properly (so about every time). It really isn't too difficult to manually use pet moves as there aren't many.. I kinda wish there were more.
In regards to WoD inside Cerby I have found throwing out the Garuda stun/bind and/or a quick tri/blizzard when they spawn keeps them in check while I can focus my pet and damage on the stomach walls. It's a quick solution, though if DPS is super low and it takes a while in there I can see needing Titan.
Fortunately there's never been a time when I haven't had my summons on Obey in party play.
But I have seen so many people just let them run wild and sometimes it makes a complete mess of things.
Just wanted to say, as someone who frequently plays NIN in WoD, if you're a SMN and use Titan-egi in Cerby's belly I'll love you forever.
Dat mudra aggro doe
