[Suggestion] Housing Deed For Players to Sell Plots

... The fact that a valid QOL suggestion receives a completely legitimate and plausible response of "RMT would abuse it" indicates that this game has a problem. I'm not sure how to solve the issue, but it's obvious that something needs to be done other than just leaving roadblocks that inconvenience players in order to limit what RMT can do.

Looking at the way things are right now, though, I think there should at least be a way for a player to sell their house back to the system (for a reduced price) if they want to upgrade.

See I can get behind something like this. But all anyone wants to do is argue about RMT and Abusing the system without suggesting an alternative.

It wasn't meant to be offensive but if that's how you took it, that's your problem. I like to help people learn the language that they claim they can use. Several times you said "Mute point" and it bothered me, so rather than enter into diatribe I provided you a link so that you could educate yourself. If you bought it as an RP investment, you shouldn't expect to be able to sell it back. Even though you're trying to make the money back for a good cause, that doesn't mean that SE should open up the floodgates for this particular issue. A house is a money-sink and a time investment. You've sunk the money and the time in to it, so mission accomplished. This is where SE's burden of responsibility ends. I'll say it again... Houses should not be easily transferable, if at all.

Any system that I can come up with results in RMT's glomming on and ruining it for everyone. Example: The system allows you to sell your plot back to the ward at a percentage of the initial price, depreciating with time (The longer you have the property, the less money you get back when you sell it). You sell the plot back and it becomes available for the original purchase price. RMT's will buy the plots and charge you real money to relinquish it, gaining a portion of their initial investment back. Fun. Let's say the property value appreciates instead. Even worse. Now RMT's have no reason NOT to buy the houses up, as they actually make their money back over time.

Come up with a system that won't allow people to exploit it and I'll get behind it. But insisting that this is an issue because you're slightly inconvenienced won't win any sympathy.

I'm not insisting this is an issue because I'm "slightly inconvenienced." Notice how in my OP I was saying that several people do this on Balmung and it wasn't until later in my thread that I mentioned I was also trying to sell my medium plot.

I completely agree with you.

If the system allowed you to "Sell back" the property and instantly upgrade to a new plot (For the regular purchase price), that'd be fine. There's no transfer of deed and it cannot be exploited by RMT. It would allow players to upgrade from Small to Medium or Large, or Medium to Large houses at their leisure. This is a GOOD thing. Selling the house to other players is not a good thing and can be exploited. This should never go into the game.

I was arguing with you because people often make suggestions without thinking about the consequences. I was pointing out the consequences, not attempting to make a resolution to the issue presented. As someone without a house this issue isn't something I'm all that concerned with. RMT's exploiting even more services in-game IS an issue that concerns me.

Right? I was going to reply to your other post, because you had a legit concern about relinquishing land for gil. But if it's for a token you can use towards the purchase of another house (or something along those lines), then I think it becomes too much of a hassle for RMT (and, of course, they'd get nothing for relinquishing a large).

I want to try to revive this topic because I've been trying to sell my medium plot with no luck; even lowering the price to 5 mil when that's literally 5 times less the amount I bought it at.

I'd like a dev response if there is any future plans to allow players to sell their obtained housing plots or if there is any way that we can sell the plot back to the game and receive some sort of compensation.

The problem is that landowners looking to upgrade have an expectation to recover the money they spent on their original plot of land (just like in the real world), but housing was designed to be a gil sink, not a security deposit that's returned when a player moves out.

Unfortunately, players seem unwilling to accept this. In the end, you're not just asking the developers to implement a new feature (which wouldn't be a huge deal), you're asking them to abandon the idea of removing huge amounts of gil from the economy (which is what's supposed to happen when a player gives up their land and purchases a new one from scratch) - and that is a huge deal.

If the developers want to change their philosophy and allow deed transfers instead, that's fine. But if they're not going to do that then they really need to step in and squash the whole practice of players "selling the right to be present" when someone moves out. Because it's completely unfair to expect future landowners to pay for the same piece of property twice.
