One of the suggestions I made back in march was to take Repairs and make it simple but add other features to it. So like repairing an item and adding a Dye to the repair recipe would color the item.

I want Crab Bow (Blue) with blue coral on the ends instead of red. Why can't we make different coloured weapons like that? Recipe would be the same but you could use blue or white coral instead of red to change the look. You could even have different colour crab shells. It doesn't have to be all about dyes and paints!
SIGNED All cloth items should be able to be dyed and maybe and maybe some type of leather dye or something as well. After the item has been completed, heck I wouldn't mind a extra bleaching process to turn the item color from whatever is back to white then dye it again to turn it into whatever color you wanted. Please consider these ideas SE.
Alchemist could do the bleaching process and weavers/tanners could do the dyeing process.
Yes, please!
I would love to dye my equip.
I like the idea. I would suggest an NPC to do the actual bleaching/dying process. Alchemists can still have a market in the creation of the dyes, and the other crafters can still make the undyed products. This just streamlines the dying process, and could even add a needed gil sink. I buy undyed gloves, I buy green dye, I take gloves and dye to dyer NPC to have my gloves dyed for a fee.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way!
I honestly don't like how some leather items say it's green and the only thing green on it is the little ropes tying it together.
Where is my dying system? I have to match my outfits and I'm wearing armor that doesn't suit my class!
how else are they supposed to come out with new gear if they can't just repaint existing gear types?
/sarcasm
Current gear system is kind of dumb how it's named specifically to that color.
It should of been gear name only with (color) after which you can change later by crafting like others are saying in here.

They got indigo, purple, white, gold. Haven't seen anyone with gear that has those colored armors (aside from ex/rare), at least that's for Melmond; are their actual synth that uses those after making the enamel? I wanted to play around if i ever come around those color stainsand but haven't so can't test :(
I can see I'm clearly in the minority here, but I want to chime in and voice my opinion anyhow.
I personally very much like FFXIV's system of dyeing clothing in pieces before it is made. For me it is a breath of fresh air from the persistent "recolor gear after find/buy" systems or nearly every other MMO.
Further, the recipes as provided by SE actually make sense. Every single component used is reflected in some way in the in-game model. If you see someone wearing an item, if you examine it closely, you can tell what components it was made from. I appreciate this kind of detail, although I can understand that others don't care.
In my eyes, the failure of the existing dyeing system was in the restricted recipes. Only specific color combinations are allowed, resulting in very few color palette choices. For example,
Leather Leggings only allow for undyed leather to be used ... the color variation comes from changing the cloth parts. However, I see NPCs with Leather Leggings with dyed leather ... however, we players are not allowed that gear variation.
In addition to restricting color variation of existing recipes, the majority of rank 40-50 recipes are just missing. Almost no linen gear recipes have been added. Linen Robe, Linen Acton, Linen Half-robe, Linen Dalmatica, Linen Doublet, etc, etc. This means that for rank 40 to 50, nearly every player is wearing unique/dropped items (vintage robe, harlequin acton, vintage haubergeon, solid scale mail) that only comes in one color. I don't think there will be much variation until SE finally properly fills out the upper-rank appropriate recipes.
For my part, rather then the larger step of adding an entirely new system for re-dyeing, I would love for SE to add more options for dyeing items while being created. Even keeping the material / dye restrictions there are, this would allow a huge variety of gear colorings. My example for velveteen robes: 5 choices for cotton underrobe, 5 choices for velveten overrobe, 7 choices for buffalo leather shoulder guards, 7 choices for buffalo leather straps on sleeves -> 1,225 color combinations. This, in combination with more recipe choices for rank 40-50 gear would greatly expand the choices.
Anyhow, I see I'm in the minority here, and I don't expect anyone to agree with me, but I thought I'd state my own opinion.
