SE has discretion over the changes to the game, and we should usually defer to their better judgment.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't discuss and debate them here. If you don't think it's worthwhile, then simply don't participate.

Implying that we should give SE the reins is akin to saying that people in positions of power - supervisors, legislators, owners - should have independent authority to do as they will. We know this to be a very bad situation for most people involved. Why is it different in the real world and with SE?

Sorry, but asking for feedback as guidance is exactly what I'm proposing here. I'm not asking that they implement everything we ask, blindly (because, obviously, most of it is contradictory, so they can't do it anyway). It's not my place to ask them to do anything. I'm asking us, the community to be more strong-willed and vocal about what we want, and to discuss the merits of that here, on the forums.

I'm not saying we should be angry and boycott or unsubscribe because we didn't get our way. That's absolutely bad for everyone involved.

If my high horse is wanting us to be valued as customers, members, and, most importantly, followers, then I'll be glad to stay on it.

I was responding previously directly to a comment, and others like, that suggest that we are at the mercy of SE and we should adapt to what they plan and please. I'm saying that should not be our attitude or our approach in these matters, trivial as they may seem, even if it's been stated otherwise already.

Perhaps it was a little childish, but my point wasn't to honestly say that you were saying that devs should implement everything players say. My point was that you were blaming people for declining subs, and my point was that it goes both ways. Plenty of people leaving the game are unpleasable whiners who can't accept that the devs won't make the game be exactly like what they envision. There's nothing wrong with arguing for QoL changes, but blaming solely people who are willing to accept the game flaws and all for losing subs is frankly absurd.

I'm not really focused on declining subs, but rather new subs, which are more valuable.

I don't find it absurd at all. This game is one of many in the MMO market. Every player of an MMO will post online about what they love about the game and discuss gameplay - it's incredibly difficult to gauge the quality of an MMO unless you actually play and experience the game, since reviews are outdated every few months, and are barely reliable to begin with.

One of the key differences is how active the developers are in responding to the game's growth and change. You can jump on the official forums and look at how often developers have answered questions, reviewed suggestions, and actually implemented some suggestions.

Like I've said before, it's the same with any number of things we buy out there. The user reviews are useful, but biased and unreliable. It's the service and responsiveness of the manufacturer/developer that becomes the true selling point.

SOKEN and the sound team have A LOT of work to do, in terms not just of the music but also every other sound-effect the game relies upon.

Now consider how many dungeons there are, that is a METRIC ton of work to make a theme for every single one;

Now that the game is actually released, there's a little bit more room for making unique tracks, that's why occasionally new dungeons get a new looping theme, but there's still not a lot of time to squeeze it in, therefore (for example) the likes of the hard mod dungeon makes use of some of the 1.0 composer(s) music.

I dunno, I hate the music below Haukke Manor NM.
It just sounds so stupid.

I don't see why we couldn't have an option to turn off battle themes. Just about every other MMO with combat music has the option. Including Everquest 1.

Seems like an oversight to me.

I generally just turn off music for zones that I don't like the music for and play my FFXI playlist, lol...

Even when they reused some 1.0 stuff...they made a short loop...
