Unlimited threat happens when you get your tank stance. Look forward to it.

Compared to other games, FFXIV tanks are weak threat generators that are missing common tank utilities.
Tension because tanks don't have the tools they need is fake. If you want the FFXIV tank experience in other games, then don't use the abilities they realized tanks should have. Maybe more people would play FFXIV tanks if tanks were better equipped. FFXIV tanks can easily lose aggro, provoke is weak (not a forced taunt), there is no forced aoe taunt (or even aoe provoke), and tanks do not have a short CD off GCD interrupt (and the interrupts they have share resistance with other abilities). FFXIV tanks are not in control. Other players let tanks be in control.
Charging for tank runs is unnecessary. Use the adventurer in need bonus instead. I have a tank, healer, and dps. I always run duty roulette as adventurer in need. In a way that means the 3 other people are each paying me 1/3 of the adventurer in need bonus ... but they could have queued adventurer in need, too.
In 8 man content. I just do it for the Myth. I never charge. Second, I will never run a dungeon for gil. I can spend less time mining the same amount and get 100k instead.
I won't do content I don't want to either. Be it paid or not. I will only run such things for merc when I actually feel like it. But I wont bother charging.
to op,
adding to my earlier post if you are selling your services and passing on all loot that's one thing, but you cant guarantee the buyer gets the loot either.
I know you never said this but some people mentioned it in there responses.
If the paying customers were using duty roulette to get into the dungeon I could see how they will earn there gil back but just duty finder.?? I don't think you earn anything from that unless I'm mistaken.
basically I'm thinking since no one player can guarantee a clear or giving the loot to the buyer it seems kinda useless. However yes I understand that some people are short on time but then really they probably should play something other than an mmo.
It is sad. 2 new players met and had agreement that made both happy. One of them paid 1000 gil for nothing, other one now think he is rich.
Also about the selling/buying runs itself - if I would do it, would feel kind of awkward myself. If buying then just feeling like some moron unable to beat even a videogame, if selling then there's bit of feeling of whoring involved.
Because anybody selling his services instead of offering them is whoring himself. A chance we're not living in a society where people actually sell things and services, or we'd all be whores. Oh, wait...
Don't see what all the stuff is about here. Both were happy at the end, 1000gils is nothing, and the very concept of mercenary work seems to fit pretty well in the universe anyway.
If Im paying for your services I expect that you dont get anything including loot, and the gil at the end of the run.
For those of you who are against this, I'll this question:
If its so wrong, sad, mean, or whatever to charge DPS to tank for them. Why don't you login your tank and offer to do it for free?
I mean doing it for free sets the price down lower. People won't pay 'mercs' if they know benevolent players will do it for free. Lets get off this bandwagon of players not knowing about the duty finder.. that's ridiculous. If I'm not mistaken, the main quest scenario for Sastasha teaches players how to use it. So what that means is players know they have a 50 minute wait in the DF and are willing to part with gil to get it done. That's a fact.
So.. if you're not running dungeons with these people for free, you're an enabler for these mercs. If you are not helping to solve the problem, you are by your inaction, part of the problem. So don't judge others for running dungeons for profit, if you're not willing to do it for no profit. At least those mercs are allowing those DPS to get into said dungeon. You are not.
This is coming from someone who will tank or heal a dungeon for someone who asks, without asking for compensation. And I don't judge those that make money off of it.
I'm selling the tank queue come 2.4. If people want to wait rather than pay for a quick run, then go for it; I'm not holding a gun to your head or anything. Want an instant queue? Join me and a healer buddy for back to back runs and level that character quick. We'll pass on loot too, you guys fight over it.
Got a problem? I really don't care. Don't pay for it then. I'm not dancing around you telling you how to play while you whittle away at your crafts in town, so you can shove it while I make my money (and it really isn't much for one run. It rains gil these days) helping people level.
I like this idea simply because it has a positive impact on new players. I've read some from new players about needing these dungeons and have seen from new players in my FC that have quit the game because they queue times for a dungeon they are required to do in order to advance the story. The gil a tank is asking for is next to nothing.
But this could encourage new players to also look at the situation of becoming a tank, for instant queue times and perhaps a bit of extra gil.
