A Bards point of view.

Edit. Forums are being really weird for me.

I just assumed BARD was a support class - otherwise they wouldn't have the Support/Heal LB like us (no idea why SE...sucks when it's 2 Bards in a 4 man party..)

I never even ask for Mage's Ballad, even if there 15,000 deaths later, because if we're dying that much to be honest, no amount of MP is going to save "lost cause".

Whenever i play as a Bard, i can always tell by looking at the MP bars if a Ballad is needed, but i never tell how much TP the DPS or Tank has left. So, it’s hard for to determine when i should be playing the “Army’s Paeon”. When i’m in a group that pulls large mob packs or reaches a boss which might take a while to take down, i’d say that people should inform me when they want me to play the “Army’s Paeon” for them.

I hope that SE will allow us to see the TP bars from our party members through a future patch.

In the meantime, i’d stick to playing “Foe Requiem” if we have a Black Mage in our party, play “Mage’s Ballad” when the Mages gets low on MP and “Army’s Paeon” when i’m low on TP after spamming my AoE’s on larger mobs or in between battles.

“Foe Requiem” should only be needed if you have a Black Mage in your party or when the White Mage goes full DPS on the enemy. I believe that the Summoner and Scholar DoT’s and the DPS of the other classes don’t deal Elemental damage, so “Foe Requiem” would be a waste of MP (at least that’s what everyone has been telling me).

Tl;dr no matter what you do it's never gonna be good enough.

I don't play songs outside of coil... just doesn't happen. When I'm in coil, it's with a specific static, and I have expectations of when songs are needed so it doesn't totally nerf my dps.
All other requests are rejected, with the exception of foe's requiem... but that's only if there is a blm.

No...you saying "everyone is stupid" an ignorant person is what you are thinking of as ignorance is simply lack of knowledge. while an idiot is someone who is intellectually flawed.

I'm not sure why we have 2 threads for the same subject.

What all these posts sounds like to me:

It's interesting how Bard is in three hot topics this very moment.

I'll say it again, can we all agree to disagree how the 2nd team just failed BRD? It's doesn't matter what your opinion is about how BRD should be played. The whole job is a mess. Is it support, is it DPS, when is it support, when to DPS, she says that, he says this and the discussion goes on and on.

People please open your eyes. SE did a poor job on BRD. It's a last minute change when they decided to have classic FF jobs back. Archer should have been Ranger (sniper/hunter w/e). They had some support abilities lying around, we got some lore crap about how Archer's could turn into BRD's and voilà.

We should support Yoshi's mentioned option to completely change the job system for 3.0.
