When it comes to dailies, the rewards ARE too low. Even the developers acknowledge this. In fact from their live letter, I don't think they intended people to farm elite marks as they are right now. As it stands, daily marks really aren't worth the effort. You'd be looking at almost half the year if you do only the dailies, just to get 1 piece of the i70 gear. Elite hunts? On my server? Forget about it. People kill them the instant they get called out. Did a timer the other day. Guess how long the A rank lasted? 30 seconds. That's it. And what kind of atmosphere is this system breeding? gamer escape did an article with screen captures of the chat, and those are tame compared to what I see on my own server:

How many people do the daily bills?
You can see it like you want, the daily bills need better rewards.

While I agree that coil equipment is the only thing in the game at present that requires any sort of meaningful effort to obtain (a design stance I fully support and hope persists indefinitely) every time I see the "I'm supposed to get what I pay for, just because you have more time on your hands doesn't make you 'more deserving of a reward'" argument I can't help but laugh.

This is an MMO, you aren't "Paying for the right to get everything", you're paying for the right to participate. If I sign up at a racetrack or go pay registration for a marathon I'm not paying for the right to win a gold medal/trophy... I'm paying to PARTICIPATE. That's exactly what you're paying for in an MMO, and it's pretty clearly spelled out in the EULA of any and all of them. I'm not sure where this entitled nonsense attitude comes from in the next generation of gamers but it's pretty silly and a little sad.

Full disclosure: I do raid coil and as a thirty year old I work a full time job nine hours daily which means I can only hunt in prime time. I get the frustration, I really do. It sucks big time and I think this was a poor design decision obsoleted years ago when it was implemented in similar games. That being said, amount of time invested has always translated to more/faster rewards in an MMO setting, always.

As much as I hate hunts, the rewards entice everyone (even raiders) to participate. There's a lot of vitriol on all sides "If you hate hunts so much why r u doin them lololol!!1oneeleven!" ... the carrot is big enough, doesn't mean people have to like the stick. Increasing the daily rewards can only help things, whether they do so at a level that encourages people to stop mindlessly zerging targets remains to be seen.

imo the good amount is when seal/hour from daylies > seal/hour from hunt.

For a more or less casual player... about 900 myth a day can be said to be average gains. Mostly singular roulette rewards. This translates to abooout 1.4 pieces or a week or so to outfit a class... Assuming you\\'re starting from scratch. As other people have stated, there are a myriad of uses for myth, much moreso than seals... So there are places to put the excess. Even the jump to zenith is what? 1500 or so? I think that this level of progression is fast and fair enough for everyone, and frankly, saying \\'if its this fast, we might as well just increase the rewards that much further.\\'.... Well, that\\'s stupid.

Elite targets take about just as much effort as the dailies. Let's not act like elite marks are some kind of hardcore content. Teleport to zone, spend 30 seconds killing, done. Dailies get one seal, elites get 20-50. This isn't about handing stuff to casuals, it is about balancing the methods to attain the rewards. I don't think it should be anywhere near what elite marks get, but one seal is pathetic. Hunts general are way too easy for everyone. Let the players that either don't have the system requirements to get to the elites or don't want to deal with the mess enjoy some of the content too.

I personally don't even touch the daily marks, they are a complete waste as it stands.

So, just because you pay for it means that you can decide ever twist and turn? No. You pay for the game, if you don't like it then don't play. It's pretty simple.
Everyone who pays for this game Already has access to the rewards. It all depends on how much you put into gaming. Don't expect someone who spends a lot of
time playing to have the same stuff as someone who doesn't.

You're right, those who put more time in deserve more rewards.
That doesn't mean those who put a little time in, deserve pathetic insignificant rewards.

That's like saying people who raid 2-3 hours a week in coil deserve 0 drops and those who raid for 40 hours deserve 10 drops per person.
That's not how game balance works, stop being so greedy and caring about what items other people are getting.

Best example is Syrcus Tower:
You can only get 1 item per week whether you run it 1 time, or 20 times that week. It gives everyone a chance to get their weekly item whether they have a lot of time on their hands or little time. However those that run it many times also have a chance to win a minion or a housing item, and they deserve it for running it many times. That's the kind of good game balance the hunt needs. As it stands right now, it's unbalanced and has nullified most of the content in the game. I don't know about your server, but even if you try to seriously do hunts on my server, there's so many people S ranks don't even render and I can't attack them. By increasing daily mark seals, it would allow people like me to actually do hunts at my own pace on my own time without fighting 200 people/lag/graphics problems and still earn a decent amount of seals to exchange for a few items.

What effort? Running to an A rank is not much different than running to a bunch of mobs and killing them in roughly the same amount of time, just that one of them give 20 seals, the other gives 1.

I agree the person worded it wrong but he is absolutely correct. If you play 20 hours a week, you should progress faster, possess more, and be better equipped. Why should somebody who plays 5 hours a week get everything at the same time as someone who plays 20? Do you go into work and leave after 2 hours and expect to be paid the same amount of money that day as the person that worked 8? Would you expect to get a raise or promotion over that person? No, unless you're not all there in the head.

I understand its unfortunate that some people have more free time than others but that's just too bad. Catering a game to a person who only has a handful of hours a week to play results in one thing...A game that is disgustingly easy. If you have a lot of different things you want to do in game, than prioritize what is more important and focus on that first. You cant cater to everyone and maintain a good product.

The problem with XIV is its core design is flawed. Once you hit level 50 there is literally nothing for you to do other than collect shinies for vanity. Each update to the game just adds more shinies to collect. They have a vanity system so the entire population doesn't walk around looking literally exactly the same in their way too easy to obtain gear. XI had a much better system. The core of the game could be accomplished with a basic set of reasonably attainable equipment. Anything beyond that you had to either log in a bunch of man hours or spend a ton of money. Obtaining items wasnt the sole purpose of the game like it is in XIV.

I do my best to maintain interest in XIV and it is challenging. I am an somewhat old gamer. At 33 I grew up playing games that were actually difficult. I could only imagine seeing XIV's population having to play Ultima Online and having to deal with the risk of getting player killed any time you left guarded territory and losing your stuff. The vast majority of them would lose their minds. Growing up with those games I look at XIV and its just soooo shockingly easy.

I know most people will say "Than dont play!" Well, it's hard to give up on MMO's when you've been playing them for nearly 20 years. The base concept of an MMO makes for an amazing experience. It just seems every generation we detach further and further from that experience. So currently XIV is the best of the worst so I play it and have as much fun as I can. I have my set goals, and when I reach them I will probably close my account. Sadly, the game is so easy that shouldn't take more than 3 or 4 months.

Shinies have never been my goal. I have always loved the content. I dont know why SE abandoned being story-based. I guess its more cost effective to make items than come up with interesting plot. I absolutely loved XI pre-2007. Nothing in XIV even comes close to scratching the surface of how fun Chains of Promothia was. It took even hardcore gamers longer to complete Chains of Promathia than it takes to complete XIV's entirety. To bring my rant full circle, it falls on this very attitude of people who put in 5 hours of gaming a week think they should obtain everything at the same time as someone who puts in 25 hours a week. It's absolutely ludicrous.
