a pretty serious question

For me I hate the zerg system we currently have, I rather it been a free company feature at the request of your grand company and it was a claim/credit system based on party made up of your free company members and the nm would scale to how many were in your party as needed just my 2 cent on hunts.

let me be clear on one point, i don't say that everything that have done FF11 is bad, but a lot of the game was simply a way to make people loose time.

here it's the general feeling of what we did get, we aren't playing, we are waiting for be allowed to play. and when we get to play, it's either boring and mindless (grindfest) or simply ridiculous (zergfest).

i think they try really hard to stick to the three month between each patch and some stuff needed more time. when it come to the rest, they do use the easy way out. the relic quest wasn't hard nor long to make, nor the crafting/gathering grind.
same the hunt wasn't that hard easier, they only have take out the FATE UI and add long respawn monster there and there, actually the systeme is soo poor that it's shocking. the difference in the quality of the feature let me think something had other priority.
i will have wish they did wait another 1-2 month for make us a better system than bring this and say, no it work as intended, when even player say that the balance of the game is all broken because of them choice.

If you think anything in XIV is like XI you have never played XI. OR you played XI after abysea where they are copying XIV.

Gilthas, I don't know why you're trying to talk sense into these people, because they're quite frankly just players who have been obviously tempered by Ffeleven, the Primal of bad game design. ><

I think that if this was FFXI-2 we would have free S size houses and be able to garden in our rooms. ^^;;;;;;

While there are certain things taken directly from XI - there are also things directly taken from other SE games.

Being in HNMLS from FFXI, some contents since 2.2 are inspired from FFXI, except that FFXI = party/alliance grind while FFXIV = solo grind, time spent is not much less than FFXI except that the grind is easier. Also relic/mystic could be get in months but required whole LS devoted. Contents in FFXI is not that hard, hardest part is to find ppl that have much free time to grind with you. In fact, FFXIV required players eye/hand coordination more than FFXI which one could do most content by just looking at the battle log.
The point here is how much time SE expecting us to spend to achieve reasonable progress (good b4 2.2). FFXI is a huge time sink, I hope SE could clearly tell us that if this game is moving toward hardcore gamer orientated like FFXI, let the players choose the way forward. I don's mind bringing features from FFXI and I am not saying that hardcore game is bad, but I think it would be difficult to serve both causal and hardcore gamers in such a small community.

Saying that anything in this game even remotly resembles FFXI's longer but more rewarding systems is a joke. The name of this game is instant gratification and we can see it at work when they introduce a system that takes any mediocerm of work people flip out. The only bar to progression they have in this game is weekly lockouts and seal caps.

it will be nice and not miss totally the point, we aren't saying it's exactly like FF11, but they tend to get into this direction.
youcan say it was worst and longer and i will answer, it was needed for the game, the add of the content was really far from what we did get so far with FF14.
in FF11 we will never did hope get this much content added every 3 month. then heavy time sink was needed for make sure people stay on the game and have stuff to do.

however, FF14 pace of content added is far more than enough for avoid to fall into heavy time sink mechanic, more important we are in 2014, final fantasy 11 have come out in 2003 in USA more of 11 years ago. the technology and the need have evolve, you can't hope make people be happy with the same mechanic that was working at this time.

FF11 was a very good game, but it's another game, we can't allows SE to redo the same error of the V1, and they begin to redo them!

it's because some player play tons of hours, for be more accurate. the trouble is not that player rush through content. it's they try to make content that are adapted to hardcore player, with tons of play time. sadly it cover less of 10% of the community, leaving the other with no other choice than try to find rush technic for catch up.
don't get me wrong even if the content was less grind they will still try to rush it. the trouble is not new, but i guess the problem was never face directly.

what keep player play mmorpg actually? loot, get the shinies you want.

let's look the trouble for other game type like FPS, why player continue to play? they don't have loot! why? maybe it's time to find a new way to keep player occuped, by give us content that have a high replayability, not because of the loot, but because of the fun factor, that something that was hard to make until recently. i'm not idiot to the point to say we must get ride of the loot, but maybe add another layer to the reason of why play stay on the game can solve a looooot of trouble.

instead to look back to what we was getting in the old game, maybe look around and try to find what can be used from the other game.

but i'm still hopefull, with the last live letter they are clearly trying to make us a good chocobo race, if they do it well (and not like a small mini game) it can be a really interesting thing to play. game like mario kart get never old with many player, and in a mmorpg you have tons of player!
