The first thing you want to be sure of before choosing the video card, is the resolution you are going to run on, what size monitor you have and it's native resolution. Anything 19" and below will run @ 1440x900 to lower these resolutions does not hurt the cards much, once you step up to 20"- 23" most run @ 1680x1050 this resolution will still be okay for the low end cards, if you step up to 24"-27" its @ 1920x1080 some are 1920x1200 you need to step it up a little mid range - high end cards are good. Now if you are going to run on 30" it will have a native resolution of 2560x1600 or like what i am running 3x 24" on eyefinity which runs on 5760x1080 w/o bezel compensation, with compensation its 5936x1080 then you'll want something really beefy. If u are going to run on HDTV 1080p most of them are based of 1920x1080 resolution as well. There is a sweet spot to video cards but sadly they are nowhere around the low end cards they are in the mid range.
forgot another tip if the video card only comes with a heat sink and no fan don't try to game on it =D specially not FFXIV
Yeah with SLI you should definately be able to run much higher settings than that. And window mode support SLI/CF depends on the game. Sadly ffxiv is one if the crappily coded games that don't seem to support it(I thought I had it running in windowed CF a few times but never got it to work again till now).
I would not buy that Asus Essentio whatever, if your gonna spend a good 900$ on a system like that I would just buy a custom or build one yourself. You can find some good customs with cyberpowerpc. I got lazy to build one and just order one from them, Customs always nicer than a prebuilt from bestbuy.
I just would like to thank everyone that helped me out, with the new computer I got I was able to run the game flawlessly on the high settings. You've all been a great help, such a helpful community : )
Also I apologize if this thread caused any sort of drama.
Well if you don't like the idea and/or don't trust yourself building a machine there is always Dell and Sony and Apple etc... I know other people are going to nerd rage because I didn't put down more names but honestly just Google it and you'll find more choices. What you want to look for in any pre-built system though is how good is the PSU, and make sure the GPU is not 4+ years old. Most systems today should come with 4+GB and iCores standard so yeah.Quote:
I'm curious as well as to what you purchased (and where ya got it)...having 0 luck finding people who know where I can get a better system myself.
Real men have custom built systems <.<
