Honestly, when I'm tanking 4-man dungeons I don't even bother to mark. There are only 2 DPS, and I can keep hate off of them unless they pop all cooldowns. Do I wish they'd hit the same enemy? Sure. Do I care enough to stop before each group and mark? Nope. Maybe if I start having aggro issues I'll mark, but until then I'll just cycle between targets.

-Healers that forget to use the buffs when the dungeon starts.
-Healers just standing there, seeing that I'm not taking ANY damage. Do some DPS... I won't die, I swear.
-DPS running ahead exploding all the trash before I even stare at these monsters.
-DPS that don't fully use their skills. DOTS, debuffs and combos.
-Tanks that starts the pull with Fast Blade and they just don't use flash or they use it ONCE.

Now, on a serious note, not all the DPS know what to do. I met several people that don't even follow my marks. When you risk yourself in DF, anything can happen. I prefer to mark trash, needed or not, because I don't know how they play, and I won't assume the best. Ever.

Funniest thing I have ever seen in a dungeon is people thinking they are God's gift to gaming. That is all.

was in an AV through DF, and we wiped so we all respawn and start to go at it again, but the tank dies thanks to no heals well we wipe again. The Heals then sends this huge paragraph about how they were new to healing AV and how they couldn't heal unless the blm slept the enemies, of course both the tank and blm were against this saying the heals just needed to heal and we would be fine. the heals replies with something like it makes it easy if they sleep. So the tank pulls and his HP slowly drops down when he types "HEAL ME!" with which the heals leaves leaving us in there to wipe one last time

I'll give an example of why this can be a bad idea. I could do this like you, and sometimes if I'm trying to go quick thru a dungeon I don't mark. Know what happened last time I didn't mark? The dps ignored the bee's in sunken temple, they also prioritised going after the stone heads before they could be dragged to the platforms. If you are in a pug it's much safer to assume the dps are clueless and need the marks.

First, my own:
- GLD/PLDs and MRD/WARs that wear 'Disciple of War' armor in dungeons. Yes, you're able to, but please limit that to solo play if you must; the crappy DEF and MDEF aren't enough to offset whatever attribute/stat bonuses it has.
- Damage dealers that pull, aggro, or try to tank. You don't set the pace of the dungeon run, and you're not automatically uber because you think you're putting out big numbers. You'll be asked to stop, and if you don't, you'll be kicked.
- Healers that spamheal and overheal, and/or CNJ/WHMs that never use Cure and only use Cure II. Are you seriously that lazy? If the answer is yes, consider "maining" a DPS class instead.
- SCHs that prioritize their DoTs and debuffs over healing. You're a healer now! Healing comes first!

Marking is always helpful - and as others have said, the DPS should be following the tank's lead, and not vice versa. Also, Sleep/Repose is great for crowd control if parties don't have (m)any AoE capability - or even for adds or missed patrols.

I'm not sure what your meaning is with the first part. Do you mean instead of Shield Lob or Flash? If it's a patrol or single enemy, starting with Fast Blade is okay. And using Flash once is perfectly fine if they're keeping hate; contrary to some of the things I've seen posted on these forums, Flash is not "awful for keeping hate" and does not need to be spammed outside of raiding situations.

Flash isn't awful by any means but you do need to spam a couple of them to start with in my experience then keep weaving them in, especially until you get shield oath. Leveling up as a gld/pld as my first toon in this game it's been very nessecary to get a bit spammy with it in aoe heavy groups especially if they're lvl synched.

They have their time and place, yeah; but if I'm tanking it's usually low-level roulette, and kill order often doesn't matter much. If kill order mattered, I'd mark.

Huh, that's weird. I did the exact same thing (level up GLD/PLD first) but never had to spam Flash. Oh well, I guess mileage will vary. ^^;
