Has someone hacked your account beetle juice?
Just the other day you were lecturing me that SE has kept to their promises.

Wow even Betelgeuzah, the defender of SE is getting impatient. If patch 1.18 turns out to be really awesome, I don't care if 1.19 takes 3 months, obviously they did something well in those 3 months. Also SE is in a different position than Trion, they didn't release crap. Now SE has to clean up the mess they made first before they move on.
And 5 years to develop such a terrible game in the first place kind of makes that point moot.
People are making these changes sound as if they're founded for taking so long. They're not. The enmity system does not take this long to fix. The battle system, at least removing Stamina and adding auto attack, does not take this long to fix. That should have been done pronto instead of giving useless fluff quests that were largely pointless.
Every single patch everyone touts it as the golden patch that has finally come. Then they download and log on and find out it's not. I guarantee you 1.18 will be the same, because players have placed it on such a high pedestal that it will not possibly live up to the hype.
Think about this for a minute. It was said in the past that they didn't want to add chocos yet, because they were not going to just add them as rentals. This means that they were working on making chocobos more than just rentals. So since that's on hold and we're just getting rentals, why are they not being released in 1.18? One would think they'd make them mountable before worrying about raising them or whatever else they're planning. That would mean that they were NOT working on chocobos since they made that statement, but have fallen behind, run into a delay, etc, and started work later on them. If they were working on them since they made that statement, rentals would have been finished, as that would have been the first aspect of chocos that they would have programmed. Rentals are quite obviously not finished since they aren't coming until 1.19.
Poor time-management and disjointed priorities are plaguing the development.
"Up until the end of Summer." Summer ends Sept 23. We are now almost to August and have had this patch delayed twice. You really expect 1.19 will launch within two months?Quote:
Shipp I say it once and I say it again.. 1.18 " At the Earliest" It wasn't a "Target" its a " If everything goes well it will be then"
I'm disliking the people that think 1.18 was SUPPOSE to be in Mid-June when if you read the wording its not.. sheese people don't read things threw sometimes........ :/
He said "At the earliest" at the very beginning of May. A month and a half away, and it doesn't launch until until a month after the "at the earliest" comment? They had some kind of time frame for development that should have led them to release between Jun 15 - Jul 1. What on God's green earth just popped up in development that delayed them by the two extensions Yoshi has mentioned?
Also, target date means estimated, that's what they're shooting for. If they were never shooting for mid June, then he straight out lied.
Not really. SE themselves said that they were working soon after. They lost maybe a week or two tops from what I remember.
Btw, been in natural disasters myself. Katrina for example.
And again, that's SE's fault.Quote:

Trion hadn't developed an MMO that has run for almost a decade, nor was Rift in development as long as XIV.
THAT is the problem I am pointing out, and no, 7 months is not a "fast" dev cycle in comparison just because the game launched as crap. They half-assed quests into the game instead of actually fixing core mechanics. The Easter event could have completely been scrapped (I realize it was probably pre-planned) to work on MEANINGFUL changes. They've already pushed back 1.18 twice. This is not "Fast by comparison" at all.
Copied and pasted from what you probably overlooked:
I'm sure 1.18~ 1.19 ~1.20 are all being worked on right now as we speak 1.18 is Ready 1.19 probably near completion 1.20 probably half complete
This is all being worked on currently those patch are the " Patches will come in quicker sucession" because of the fact that 1) they have a September Deadline to meet all those goals and 2) they need to get this game in tip top shape ASAP!
Do you really honestly believe that ALL they been working on was patch 1.18? Give me a break >.>
And you, being a game developer/programmer are in the perfect position to know exactly how long these things take, right?Quote:

The problem is that better games haven been overhauled in this timeframe, and it's still not "in order". 1.18 isn't even out yet.
Is there a certain degree of leeway to be afford Square Enix considering this specific situation? Absolutely - a certain degree, but it's by no means a blanket excuse for XIV's state, nor should we, with 1.18 not even out yet and 1.19 likely not launching till a year after the game's release, be giving them kudos like that.
Do you honestly believe 1.18 has been worked on only since May?
The trolls aside (at least they keep this thread alive) 1.18 has probably been worked on since January yet it still took 3 months to be implemented from the previous patch. Which is why I'm worried that 1.19 and beyond end up being the same way.
Again, where was it said that the patches come in quicker succession? Nobody has given me an answer thus far.
Better games don't need to be overhauled and bad games have not enough funding to be overhauled.Quote:
