I believe you're experiencing something different. The BSOL only occurs when there is either; a transition into a cutscene, the cutscene doesn't even load for you to get a chance to skip it just stays black or when you come across a loading screen transition be it a teleport or entering an instance or even exiting a instance or simply zoning. Never had this happen to me on my lol 15 FPS PC but during the PS4 beta it finally started happening after seeing my PS3 friends get slapped with it pretty much at least once a day since patch 2.2.

Could it be the resolution?

So a zone event could be similar to say, returning? I wonder if people are materializing where they are suppose to but on their screen its just this loading screen. It seems people are generally still able to interact with chat. Has anyone experienced this + not been able to chat? I'm sure these are separate issues like you said. If so idk what is going on. When we were having all those lag issues, it was easy to dismiss it as people lagging out bad, or what not. But now that its more clear, i still see this frequently. Its just unusual, I can't believe I'm just unlucky enough to get a bunch of trolls that sit there, after getting to final boss. Maybe after clearing second boss, but not after getting to the end. Sorry to derail, I hope they fix you guys up soon.

yeah, I've gotten this several times myself, generally when porting places, but occasionally at the end or beginning of dungeons.

It happened to me a lot after launch of 2.2, and happened to friends too (PS3/PC). Especially after & before primal fights and end of dungeons. Now its mainly rubberband lags only in dungeons which I'm hoping it gets resolved with maintenance.

I got it leaving brayflox.

It actually happened to be a few times before 2.2, so I don't think it's a 2.2 issue.

It started with 2.2 for me (PS3). During the three days of PS4 beta, i had it only once, returning to PS3, I have it again numerous times per day. in 10 times porting, doesn't matter if it is porting to an open world zone or into a dungeon (very nice for DD's after the waiting time), I get the endless blackscreen at least once. There have been several maintainances since 2.2 but so far it wasn't fixed.

it's not an issue with 2.2. or at least any changes in 2.2 aren't the MAIN contributor to the issue.


it has randomly happened ever since launch. nothing new. also it may be more commonly known as a LSOD. Load Screen of Death.

i doubt it will be fixed anytime soon. if it was even remotely easily fixed... then it would have been fixed by now. or SE would have made it as a part of current known issues somewhere. the fact is though... this is one of those issues developers and/or publishers will never admit to.
