Well, after actually getting to that point in the fight, I think it's still just as awful as the image indicates
To dodge a landslide, you strafe. The cast time is very long. In some cases you won't even be targeted. You will always be safe strafing unless you're caught right against the edge and he is close to you, as there is a sizeable gap between each landslide line.
To dodge a bomb you just stand on the last to pop and move to the site of the first to pop after it has exploded (in general cases). You can even eat one bomb unless a transition is occurring at the same time!
Yes, all five weights are stacked, but they're also easy to dodge as the cast time is long enough to strafe out of very comfortably. I can sympathise with people eating one weight if people are not stacked, but you should not eat more than that.
The only part of Titan EX which I would not say is trivial to dodge is basically the first half of the post-heart phase (+ and X bombs combined with landslides and weights). The rest of the fight is just a reflex test (assuming you don't know the rotation), and not an extremely difficult one. Strafing defeats it.
EDIT: Just to be clear, I don't think Titan is trivial as a whole. I think it's quite a difficult fight overall, but this difficulty arises not from the challenge of any particular dodge (except the one I mentioned above), but just the fact that it is extremely unforgiving. It's basically an endurance mechanics test (with some DPS checks here and there). I just don't think it's badly designed.
Well, I don't agree with that, but this most likely is coloring your opinion of the fight. I feel the time given is way too strict (it's definitely not dodged "very comfortably")Quote:

step 1: write down the moves from every phase and memorize them.
step 2: watch a Titan vid with your job POV until you can predict every move.
step 3: recruit a PT in party finder (NOT DUTY FINDER) with your current iLV (at least 85) as minimum.
when everyone is exp and noone lags you beat Titan Ex.
Problem is, even if you can predict when moves will happen, you can't always predict where they will hit unless everyone is on the exact same page.Quote:

So basically, almost never :pQuote:

I wonder who does titan ex with DF... special those who claim it beeing easy?
I have not tried Titan EX as much I've had with Titan HM, probably only a dozen times, most of them in 2.2. Mostly because of my connection but I think I've found a vpn service that works for me last week so I've been trying more because dodging stacked plumes is not a problem anymore. The thing is, I've only been in a DF party that can actually last long enough to get echos twice. TWICE. And I still have not gone past the first set of gaolers! And I still only saw that twice! It's crazy. I literally don't know what's going wrong since I was too busy grabbing those two gaolers. I only see empty life bars after I got them in position. People just can't seem to consistently dodge things in titan ex and the punishment is way too severe. If it's not player A this attempt, it's player B, then Player C next attempt, etc. It's not that people don't know when to dodge, they're already dodging because it's the very same attack at the same phase they've dodge previous attempts, it's the latency checks failing them.
Anyway, if the echo is meant to help non-hardcore players get past content, it's clearly failing on this particular fight. Party finder is not an option because 99% of the PFs for it asks for 'one shot' (I've never been in a one shot coil PF that actually one shots the content) and will check for clears with ifrit. Making my own PFs is also not an option for me because some people simply cannot dodge plumes consistently and I cannot be stern at them when up until a week ago, I was in their position and might very well be still in their position right now. Plus I don't even have any decent experience post heart (first paragraph) to lie through my teeth to get into experienced parties; they'll find out soon enough.
It's really frustrating to see a fight that's designed to heavily rely on latency when SE and yoship isn't willing to go the distance to provide a smooth experience with it (I don't want to hear excuses on this). I've read that yoship wants to aim for people who have never tried for mmos. I have no opinions on that but I do know that for the majority of those people, the fun will definitely stop at Titan EX, if not Titan HM. That's if their interaction with other players haven't ruined the game for them.
Titan EX makes me cry because I'll probably never get passed him to get to Levi EX. Why Square, WHY? ;O;
Whats wrong with insta kill mechanics is when a fight has nothing BUT insta kill mechanics. Weight of the Lands stacked up are death even with 25% echo. Landslide is pretty much always insta death if you get hit by it.
And I am sorry, but if you have very small lag or latency in most any other fight you have FAR FAR less problems than with Titan.
To argue otherwise is to willfully stick your head in the sand and ignore most other people saying how other fights in the game are easier than Titan because of this. There is no other fight in the game that is just "Memorize and Move".
If you find Titan well thought out and an engaging fight then have at it, but I prefer fights where you actually think, react and strategize with your group....not memorize something and everyone move around like stepford wives going through their daily routines to get it right.
