And we are all Naoki_Yoshida! xD
Eh. Only problem with a true implementation of this kind of system would be either it would be exclusively heterosexual, cutting out anyone who has a preference for the same gender, or it would be all-inclusive and start getting attacked by those who are against that kind of equality.
Though as a compromise, how about a friendship system? Maybe, in a patch far, far away, such a friendship system could allow certain NPCs to tag along as companions? Just a thought.
I'm definitely disappointed that this isn't an actual thing; I'd love to be able to romance my favorite NPCs! Even if it's not real, it would be really cool if they did profiles for a few more characters, the few in the blog post were a fun read.
While you're probably right, I hold out hope that someday people, or at least game developers, will realize what a stupid idea it is to use your in-game character's gender to restrict content in a game with character creation. If it did more than change a few pronouns in the story-mode, that would be another story, but when gender is 99% cosmetic, using it to determine access is exactly as arbitrary as using a character's eye color.
I understand armor models because of the extra programming, and NPC flavor text assuming your character is straight is fine because realistically they would, and correcting them would be a waste of time, but anything deeper than that should definitely be unisex.
I'm going to make a post about this some time later, but I would really like this idea. I know it would be difficult to implement on a large scale basis, but at least on the core story npcs, I think this would REALLY go a long way to add a sense of relationship and connection to the characters that you spend so much time with, and have gone through so many things with.
It REALLY shows that they need to work on the Characterization between the Protagonist (You) and the NPCs that you experience the story with when Thancred jokes, "Are you just going to give me another of your stoic nods?" That's not a funny breaking of the fourth wall, writing team. That's acknowledging your laziness in characterization for all the world to see.
We WANT to have relationships with these NPCs. We WANT to be participants in their lives, rather than spectators. Let us, please.
I would like to hold all those waifus ;-;
SE pls
Hahaha. Dating Minfilia would have been great... except having to answer linkpearls message in the middle of duties and not partying with female adventurers just because she's jealous. LOL
There was no scissoring, there for I didn't care.
Don't forget Gilgamesh.

One more and the fact that our avatar has no personality will officially be a running gag. Two more and it's a meme.
Sure it would be nice to have a bit more of a personality, but I actually like that they are hanging a lantern on the fact we are silent protagonists.
Coming from SWTOR...yes actually. It was one of the few things I enjoyed from that game. I liked interacting with npcs and watching how their reactions to me change.
I considered changing my character's sex to male but if they add this without the option of homosexual interactions I'll have my character stay female so I could romance Thancred. :D
So disappointed that this is a joke...heavy sigh...
