So, is that a dagger? (In the new concept art.)

That's the BRD..9 jobs in the game currently, 9 ppl in the artwork...whether it looks like a bow or not..thats the BRD.

There are only 8 player characters depicted in the artwork, which is to be expected since this is 8 man content. And there is literally no reason that the character in question needs to be a bard. Neither mechanically or artistically. Not to mention it's simply impossible that what he's holding is a bow.

I'm pretty sure that thats a WHM.
Seeing as BLM's got a one-handed allagan weapon in the first coil, it would be safe to assume that WHM's will get a one-handed weapon this time, since BLM's will get a two-handed rod as it is depicted in the trailer.
And the way that miqo'te holds the weapon doesn't say much... I mean just look at the warrior, probably putting his shoulders out of joint o.O

This is a really interesting point. The other scions (Minfillia excluded, I believe, though I could be wrong) are all playable classes.

Same argument we had on forums about the 2.0 art with a scholar in it. Naysayers downshot every possible way it was actually a scholar too, "That gear is Job A's, not some SCH gear!" It's always easier to say it isn't then hope it is so you don't get disappointed, but as the SCH thing had proven before, they do sneak new jobs into artwork beforehand just to rile us up. It could go either way, but honestly I'd prefer it's a sign of them adding a new job and expanding our little game a bit faster. Oh and male gear often has breastplates too, look at allagan, it has a curve on the breast even for men too, because not just women are vulnerable to taking blows to the chest ya know?

I remain both apprehensive and skeptical, and I desire more hardcore evidence before taking a stance.

I /will/ say, SE has a very long history, stretching clear back in FFXI's salad days, of spoilering new content with artwork or small mentions in the plot. The concept this and Thancred could be a spoil at something is by no means a tinfoil hat theory. But it simply can't be verified /yet/.

yea Ramsey u are absolutely right. I counted 9 b/c I thought the PLDs legs belonged to what I thought was a SMN and the shield was a SMN book. so yea no reason for that to be a BRD, I thought I had all jobs accounted for. Still cant figure out what that Lala is to the right of the PLD is either.
