Looks like the next level of Relic is about to come..

I'd also vote and hope for a more intricate / interesting "Upgrading Relic Quest" that isn't just trading in more (New) Tombstones.

What's interesting is that if we look at this on a high level, the current Relic to --> Relic +1 (Zenith) and now in 2.2, potentially --> Relic +2 progression *could* be like the mini-steps that XI had inbetween its super long progression from Base (Junk) Weapon to Full Relic (with a UNIQUE Weaponskill Only Available On That Weapon).

I hope in the grand scheme of things (say over this coming year), it might turn out that way so that the "Real" Full Powered Relic Weapon gets its own Weaponskill / Spell (w/ Brand New Animation!) like XI had, after numerous Upgrade Steps, but I'm not sure if it will go that way.


Right now, it feels like Relics are just an "alternate quest" to keep people busy and will just match the latest Item Level (so every Patch will just be a New Primal Weapon or a New Upgrade to Relic that's the same level with similar stats). :( I really hope this changes.

A long-term Goal, something players can work towards for more than just a few days or a week is a GOOD thing. :)

How about to get the upgrade, you have to go through every single dungeon and every single fight in this game except for coil before they can upgrade. It would get more people to queue dungeons, less queue times, and give some hardcore people something to do that takes a long time to do. :) Would someone be willing to do this? lol

I was thinking the same thing: That they changed the "+1" to "Zenith" because they'd be giving us Full Name Changes with every other patch / upgrade, like:

* Curtana --> Curtana Zenith --> Save The Queen --> Save The Queen Zenith --> Ragnarok --> Ragnarok Zenith --> Excalibur --> Excalibur Zenith (FINAL)

Something like that, perhaps?

Because we all know Ochain is the superior shield >:D

And XI Aegis was ugly as a derpcat+male roe combined!

I always thought, as someone probably already brought up, that Zenith can mean the very highest point. Although if memory serves, it can also just mean up or above.

But if they can transform and maybe...get a different model then I'm all for it.
It keeps the relic system relevant. I think its a good option to compare side by side with something like a primal weapon.

Hmm...I'm all for having to get the EX weapons to upgrade the Zeniths more, along with needing the new Tomes. Heck, even having to make and meld an i70 wouldn't be bad to me either (the fact that I can craft some of them and bug some friends for the rest doesn't have anything to do with this...)

I'm sure there will be a quest-chain to do this, though. Probably have to beat Township (and maybe Halitali HM and Brayflox HM) to get some item(s) and use that in the upgrading or something.

By definition, Zenith means the highest point, or culmination of something. Also, taking into consideration that they renamed augmented relics from +1 to Zenith not too long ago, this coming update was done with that naming convention in mind. Therefore, I'm going with what some people are saying here: ex: Curtana > Curtana Zenith > Excalibur > Excalibur Zenith. This alone should last until the first expansion.

I just hope they are more interesting than +3 STR, +5 DET +5 ACC over the i90 ones

Is definitly enjoy a new questline similar to the relic reborn questline.


Also....TOMEstones...that is all.

I wouldn't expect too much from the upgrade, the fact they chose the upgrade route again will likely lead to them re-using the same skin (with a new color glow) or maybe extra particle effects. I don't really see it changing shape.
