Harsher Penalties for Tanks who Immediately Leave Duty Finder

Stupid tanks. Them going from a 1 second queue to a 30 minute wait is not enough. This one tank totally left that time, they should all be punished. I demand to start with a double duration df lockout. But they are still waiting less than dps like that, so the Tank reward bonus should be something they pay to get into the dungeon. Also if a tank leaves in pharaos his pants should be left there making him walk around with no pants until the time he clears the place. With these things in place, no tanks will queue up and thus no tank will leave anymore, problem solved.

That was sarcasm. Take a chill pill, take a step back, take a deep breath, and realise this will never happen.

( I do feel your pain though. Oddly enough i had my first instant leaver yesterday, it was a healer.)

Okay tanks, read the words.

This is concerning tanks who are immediately leaving duty finder upon loading into the dungeon.

There is nothing wrong with the group's composition.

The healer is not under geared.

The tank is leaving duty finder because he or she perceives the dungeon to be too difficult to pug, or too long.

The DPS and healer do not get instant queues, sometimes we have to wait as long as an entire hour.

There is no justification for not trying to see if the group works together before abandoning them.

If you are a tank, and you feel like it's okay to abandon these people, then you should be penalized for wasting other people's time. To those opposing any such changes in duty finder, I really have to wonder how many groups you're abandoning because I and others who have shown support of this thread have not even once said that tanks who try should be penalized at all.

In addition, to those of you who read, a better alternate solution was posted earlier in this thread which I support. So instead of tearing apart my solution, which we've already moved on from, go look at that one.

EDIT -> When all possible solutions have been ruled ineffective then I will give up this pursuit. Furthermore, neither my solution or the alternate one suggested would be ineffective. The issue is the tanks who are abandoning their groups don't want to have to wait to go back and do it again, but they really don't care if they're forcing the DPS or the healer to have to wait hours.

So the dps or healer leaving before the first pull in Sirius is a non issue right?

Saying it would not be fair to impose such a penalty on tanks only then continuing to aim your flawed way of thinking specifically against tanks (posts, #15, #18 and #34) doesn't just add up to me ya know.

Regarding Sirius specifically, I never get hit with a penalty ...all the dps and AF geared healers beat me to it every time :(

Nothing flawed about my way of thinking. I've already conceded that the penalty should be applied to all jobs.

We're past the hour lockout for immediate abandoning and now discussing a leave percentage rate timer which is more effective.

And as I've already stated, I don't see healers and DPS dropping groups as much or often as I do the tank. There are other threads on the forum about this topic.

The real "solutions" would be to 1) balance the player population, or 2) change required group composition to reflect player population. Right not there is a lack of tanks. SE should do something to make it more fun to play a tank. I picked #1 because I changing #2 would have repercussions to 8 and 24man content, or would have to be fluid -

Honestly, I don't tank because I perceive that tanks are expected to do and know more, so I prefer to heal or dps.

Yeah, I feel for tanks because other players can give them a ton of crap when or if they make a mistake during play. Personally I'm never mean to tanks I'm grouped with, it's more beneficial to me in the long run to help them learn.

Lots of people are mentioning the tank shortage.. I've never seen any real numbers or statistics of tanks in FFXIV versus any other MMO, but as far as I can tell there's a tank shortage in every holy trinity MMO.

In any other MMO I played, almost all groups would be waiting on a tank.

You have 120 people in your FC, maybe ask one of the tanks in there to play with you?


I almost never run into this on my data center where a tank just drops instantly. What are you running where you run into this?
