Buccaneer's Shirt vs. Harrier's Jacket

Nah, I am not aggressive, sorry if my comment gave you that impression but yeah, if you theoretically mesure the stats of these body gears then the results point buccaner's shirt as the best, but what happens in the real game is another story really.

Besides HP, the stats between these gears really make no difference at the moment, so the real reason to choose between them is their price since what I am really trading is 23 def + 3 vit +3 str and +3 dex for 10 milion gil

You see theory is good, but sometimes I would like to see the practical side of things :P
If shirt's cost was only 2mil I would buy it without second thought.

LOL i just checked it out...it does is over 10M at Istory too o_o Actually, cheapest was 13M! That's some decent inflaction...i guess no one is doing faction leves anymore so demand is pushing prices up.

Ive never seen this (or the boots) at a price below 10m on my server, even when we were doing factions.
Actually I think it was more expensive back then.

They often go for 20+ mil on Fabul. Odd things is.. people buy them I guess. Personally, I wouldn't pay over 3 mil for one, I don't think its worth more then that and I think the price of it is more about how difficult it can be to attain, over its stats.

I have had people tell me that Eternal Shade is better than the Toadskin Harness that I'm already wearing, sooo which is actually more ideal for Pugilist - Eternal Shade/Toadskin Harness/Harrier's Jacket??? I have seen many wear Harrier's Jacket and am tempted to get it.

I like toad harness best since it has more DEX and more eva. But the better def, VIT bonus and damage cut from harrier might be better if you are willing to get punched a bit.

About eternal shade, i lol every time people come saying its "endgame gear"...+2 acc and atk is not worth having a r25 gear equipped. IMO right now a PGL should pick bucca shirt, alpine or toad harness...the one that fit their needs best...i still think bucca is the overall best body for PGL, but alpine is not really behind and, if you get a HQ toad harness it might even surpass the other 2.

As for Bucc Shirt vs Harrier's Jacket:

I mean you're losing 4 evade but gaining 5 Dex. I guess it may not make much difference now but when stats are fixed I imagine it would help. Dex is evade, crit, parry and accuracy though and I'm not sure how much Dex = +1 evade. Also you sacrifice some HP for Vitality which is defense and HP. Again still broken on gear I think though so right now it's negligible.

If evade should be favored over pretty much everything else, why do I constantly see people wearing Spiked Leather Armguards over Reinforced Iron Mitt Gauntlets? Gauntlets have 4 more evade though you lose a little HP and 1 element resist. Mitts of the Lone Knight might be worth looking into though for non-tanking. -1 evade but +STR.

The pure secundary attribute will always be superior to primary attributes if they're in the same proportion.

Always 3 eva will be superior to 3 DEX evasion-wise...just like 3 acc will be superior to 3 dex, 3 attack to 3 str and so on. This because primary attributes are a set of effects while secundary attributes have punctual effect. While DEX affects eva, acc, parry, crit, etc eva will only affect eva, offering a more focused improvement in only 1 aspect instead of an overall minor improvement.

Even after attributes balancing this relationship might stay...or the secundary effects would just lose their usefulness.

We'll see how it plays once primary attributes are fixed, right now I wouldn't say DEX is that important for any reason though.

Most games have primary and secondary attributes play into the formula at different points, so it would depend on how much of the primary attribute you had whether the secondary attribute (like evade) would be better.
