A)You have the ability to use food and dps cooldowns, any dps in my group that doesn't is slacking in my eyes and needs to be replaced, parser or not, that is dps you are not doing.
B)If you haven't noticed if you don't dodge in this game, you die most of the time, this will drop numbers on the person's parser, and it's easy to tell who isn't dodging, this community already avoids people that can't dodge on content where dodging is mandatory, being able to parse high while not dodging won't change that until you get to the point like on Garuda hard mode where you can ignore plumes, but then who cares when you are to that point.
Why do you think parsers would have any impact on what is already happening. People are rude to one another all the time over their rotations, use of cooldowns, and positioning. This would not be something "new"to the current game, and if anything parsers could seriously help those people failing with their rotations work things out and realize how big of an impact not using proper cooldowns or spells at the right time is.
The bottom line is parsers are around already and many people in end game content run them for good reason. Short of changing the way the game logs data, SE is not going to be getting rid of parsers. They could however put in an accurate one available to EVERYONE. This would help out ps3/4 players immensely and put everyone on the same level as far as having the option to utilize their own data and how they can improve.
Nope, while I can understand those that'd like it for normal, personal reasons, they are unnecessary to beat the games content. However it is also (most apparently) used to belittle and vent their miserable lives at other random players in game. Particularly Duty Finder groups which are what most of us use nowadays, especially new players. We have enough drama queen problems with gear, watching cutscenes and other miscellaneous s**t they like to bitch about without giving them another tool to point their fingers at because its not meeting their own expectation.
A personal in-game parser I would welcome with open arms.
ToS does not approve the harassing of other players, and parsers are one of the common cause of that.
Even if most of you will argue it is useful to improve your own gaming and bla bla bla, the fact is that very often it is used by players to blame other players because their performances are sub-optimal by reading parser numbers. It become an elitist instrument, to feed elitists.
I do not think your account will risks consequence, if you use passive parser for your own sake only, and you keep your mouth shut about other players performance while you playing. Passive = do NOT meddle with game client, and just looks at the data passing by.
I never said parsers would increase/decrease player civility. I understand some people are and always will be rude. My point is, Yoshi-P will not add something to the game that he feels players will use as a way to pick on others. Many of the comments here are stating people don't want an in-game parser because those who aren't performing well will get flamed.
As I said in my OP, I am all for parsing data. I like to see it and try to improve on it; but I don't think Yoshi-P will add it once 3rd party tool support is implemented.
I see "standard" mentioned. So you set the standard, and everybodys standard is different. It also seems pretty easy to blame close range dps everytime, never mind about having to dodge bs or tank moving mob around. What I have seen is it's always a RUSH to get through dungeons and always a RUSH to kill bosses.
Maybe that's part of the problem. Maybe someone's gear sucks by your "standards" , some people can't help it if they can't even get some things done. Not getting things done tends to be because some party decided there is a "standard" that needs to be met ie: overgeared for a particular instance.
Maybe they should just give you a personal parser and just that. To be honest, I have never seen the amount of bad behaviour and attitudes I currently see in this game than I ever did in FFXI. A game is just a game in the end, relax don't take it too serious and create memories.
