What do you really need gil for at the moment.

Hmmm.. right now I spend gil on Grade 5 Dark Matter, shards, teleports, chocobo porters and the last couple of crafting materia I need.
Which is all much less than I make, once I am done with materias I can probably even go back to making dungeons and (repeatable) quests a main source of income...

For everything else I am completely self-sufficient.

Ah well, we'll see if personal housing is going to be something to sink gil into.

The iLevel 70 crafted gear would like a word with you. Buying 1m gil is sooooooo much easier than umpteen WP/AK/DR runs.

It's a matter of opinion, but judge for yourself. This is what I wear on my BRD.

I90 Hero's Ring of Aiming - 13dex, 16crit 8dtr

I70 Gryphonskin Ring - 9str 9dex 12acc 9skill speed 8vit 12crit 8dtr

The strength makes it a viable ring for my DRG and MNK also. The 8vit has saved my life long enough to hit a LB3 and save entire groups. I will not trade all of that for 4 more dex. I do plenty of damage and out-DPS any BRD I group with.

I wouldn't deck out body-worn in crafted, because that just isn't better. But accessories can be melded to be far better than i70 DL, even comparable to i90. IMO, they are better because of the wide array of high # stats you receive with level 4 materia melds.
