I kind of agree to this. Game should stay as games, not jobs. However Tandy, the way games survive is also because of these hardcore gamers who keeps their purchase on to challenge the things that others won't be able to.

By the way for all those FFXI fans out there, comparing FFXIV ARR(1 year under the new director) vs FFXI(7 years), don't you think it's bias? If FFXIV ARR is a 7 years game, then all in all I will agree with all the critics you made.

Making Turn1~5 weaker isnt need. Already get nerfed by having stronger equipment in the game and content will be nerfed as soon as level cap is risen.

Sure theres small adjustments they can make Turn5 easier such as making Conflag attackble as soon as it targets someone, lower the hp of everything, longer conflag timers, less knock back damage from divebomb,less dmg from arena barrier,slower moving dreadknights, snake adds die faster.

These nerfs I expect to happen to turn 5.

Turn 1...? 5 stacks being cap for the boss snake,Samething with turn2 ADS.
Turn 2...? Longer swap timers for rod./ADS mobs dont have paralize or do as much damage with that attack.
Turn 3... Golems dont aoe if your not in attack range.
Turn 4...? Less mobs drop at once/more in a order,less Spiders,less HP on mobs.

Probably see something with ADS nerf so players can take jobs without a brd or plds.

I really don't believe they are trying to get the 30 minute a week players yet. Now maybe other games are, but until you see a max level boost or things of that nature, it's really hard to say they're gunning for this crowd. They'd be happy to have more subscriptions, but if you really think they're aiming for 30 minute a week players or mobile players, you're really off base. As for time investment going down, well yeah that's true, I don't know if I agree with 1/10th but it's true. Though they made a concerted effect appeal to wider audiences ... and well you're still here too. I don't know what else to say, if you want a game like that you can always learn some Korean and pick up whatever ridiculous grindfest they release next over there.

These guys would have all the same issues with any new MMO that comes out, especially ESO and EQN. Also Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls is going to cost money not not have a subscription, characterizing that as free to play is silly. It's not an MMO it's a single player game with multiplayer, I'm sure Blizzard would love to make it subscription based but even they wouldn't dare. Also before someone tries to argue it's actually an MMO it's got no persistent world and a player cap of 4.

you do understand that 6-9 is meant to be the new coil anyone who has been doing 1-5 will not care about doing 1-5 ever again except to gear alts maybe, the people that need the easy mode 1-5 will more than likely not be able to do 6-9, i really struggle to see how you think that 1-5 is difficult in the first place the game really isn't that hard just play with a group of friends and things will die to you eventually so the change in difficulty is warranted it has story linked to it why should people not be able to experience it ? and for those of you who are "against scrubs in full i90" there will be better gear to acquire also anyone can just farm myth for full i90 so it really doesn't matter

The problem is that a AAA level MMORPG takes tens to hundreds of millions of dollars to produce/maintain... and in that time that it is in production, it makes exactly $0 for the studio.

They need that "quick buck" to recoup costs from the production and testing (alpha and beta testing) phases... and then they need to figure out a way to keep a good chunk of their subscribers coming back for more. Even as newer and shinier MMORPG's are released, with their dev's screaming out promsies to lure people towards them.

There-in lies the challenge.

If you make a game where only 10% of your population (your most dedicated, loyal, and vocal portion) can "beat" all of the content... most of the other 90% is going to leave.

If you make a game where everyone can do everything, that 10% that would have stuck around forever is gone because they don't feel appreciated/challenged... and a good portion of the 90% are going to leave because they want to be off to see the next shiny new game that releases.


It's a tightrope act to find the appropriate balance that keeps your hardcore loyal players playing, as well as keeps a sizeable percentage of the casual playerbase... and few publishers can pull it off.

I don't understand. They are going to let more people complete T1-5, and those of you are are elite will get T6-9 and Leviathon X. That's your new goal.

They did lateral progression in 2.1 . . . CT (i80 left side gear), EX Modes (only gave i90 accessories and an i90 weap) Mog King (i80 weap). You don't want more, harder stuff? What do you care if 1-5 is easy-mode now, if it was already easy mode for you in the first place? Is this a conversation you are picturing:

Sorry I was a little mean to be comical and to iterate my point, but come on, guys. They are giving you more end game stuff 7 months after the game came out. I realize there isn't a TON to do right now, but if you want a lateral progression game, go play.... uhhh... Settlers of Katan?

Why don't they just give free item when these people log in. It will be much fun.
