I am going to wait and see what the patch holds before giving them any credit.
There is alot of things I am liking that I seen and some things that just seem like the dev team has no clue wtf they are doing.
Honestly it is all coming down to Dungeons and company content. IF it is just like a typical western zerg fest through a dungeon to kill a boss with nothing else involved... well then I will consider 1.18 an epic failure. If it is involved, challenging, with more then 1 thing to do in the dungeons then i will probably consider it a decent patch... Great patch is already ruled out with the other negatives I seen already... unless they release alot of stuff they have not said anything about yet.

I'm glad someone has the guts to make a thread that appreciates the devs even though it's a potential hate magnet. And it's really got a lot of hate as well.
It seems to me that people don't completely understand just how difficult creating such a massive game is. I've taken college classes on programming, and have even done personal studies of it. Programming is far from easy, even if it's something that would seem so simple to do. Any change to the game, even the addition of content, would mean rewriting the core of the code, and it takes time to find the places in the code that need adjustment.
Also, I've spent the past 10 years or so trying to become a writer which is very difficult. The reason why? Because it's hard coming up with new ideas that aren't just complete rip-offs of something else. In the movie industry it's difficult as well, that's why nowadays you see remakes of movies, see cartoons or comics turned into movies, or see a movie about something similar to another movie you've already seen. What's this got to do with making a game? Creativity is hard! SE wants content never experienced in any other MMO or single-player game, because that's what makes Final Fantasy what it is. And creativity is especially hard when you become an adult, which the whole staff at SE are adults I'm sure, and creativity lacks because your imagination becomes limited when you experience the real world and you wonder if your ideas will be liked or hated, and believe that maybe you should just keep them to yourself.
Now, after all that :) I want to say that Yoshi-P and his crew have been doing a great job in trying to make this game what it should've been at release, and know that there are people out there that understand the struggles it takes to making it likable. Keep up the good work! But do you think you can keep us a little more informed on what's going on at HQ? I hate being in the dark for so long while waiting on the Letters >< -

Regardless of all the hate and love that is tossed around on these forums. This is what the community is. I appreciate those who negatively critique SE on their sloppy performances and I appreciate those who can notice how far the game has come since launch. This thread should help shows SE that they aren't just creating a game designed for hateful robots, but some kind human beings as well. :P
I'm sort of in limbo with SE (though I find myself more pissed then relieved). At the end of the day I just have to sit and wait for the content, and balance irl and in game tasks in the meantime. -
