Nightmare Mount Drop Rate higher on Ifrit-EX ?

I was farming Garuda, and the second solo farm it dropped for me. :) I find when I solo the Ex's the horse either drops on the first or second time solo for me. When I grouped it took forever =/ Done now at least.

I'm not inclined to think it's any more common in one fight than the others.

It isn't, random will be random. Different people have different experiences with it though, obviously.

it took me about a year to get nightmare and I got from garuda I never saw it in titan ex or ifrit ex

As a 70 PLD I completely ignore the first two nail phases and burn Ifrit. The only ones I bother to kill are on the last one because he will stay immune permanently while continuously spamming his aoe. It requires a little extra healing after each of the first two aoes, but it's not like I would be doing anything else right then as he is still immune for a few seconds. As for the hardest ex primal to solo now (aside from King Mog) for me it would either be Ramuh because the (relatively) lower tank dps on the adds coupled with all the running around and dodging lightning orbs (which he always seems to put right on top of the adds) makes him a pain in the behind, or possibly Titan because just standing around doing nothing during Goal absolutely kills me.

I've got all the primal ponies and both times I've seen the Nightmare drop, it has been from Ifrit. In fact, I saw both Nightmares from him before I saw Aithon. By doing the primals in a random order and skipping the ones once I got the pony from them- I dropped Boreas first (actually on my first Shiva run,) then Gullfaxi, then Markab, then Nightmare, then Xanthos, then a loooong stretch of nothing before I finally got Enbarr and Aithon.

I don't know if they changed the drop rates since ARR, but it was easy to keep track of as I was soloing primals to get the PLD lvl 50 8-man dungeon mount, but I got all 7 ponies in under fifty runs.

How? If you get him to 30% before the second nail phase pops, he enrages and will continue to just spam Hellfire until everyone is dead. Same for if you hit 12% before the third set pop up. Even at i337 (and 35k HP), he still brings me down to 1/3 of my health per Hellfire. Unless, you mean, making a mad dash to just kill him before he kills you with that second cast of Hellfire? :x

Nevermind, I'm an idiot. That's actually pretty nice that you can just ignore the first two.

I've seen more nightmares drop in Titan Extreme than Ifrit or Garuda, to the point that I originally thought that was the primal's mount and not gullfaxi. I think I'd seen around 7 or 8 nightmares on Titan, 3 on Garuda, 1 on Ifrit and 2 gullfaxi. Of all the 2.x series primals, I've spent the least amount of time in Titan.

Also, unlike all of the other steeds, nightmare's drop rate was never increased, so it's still some 1% or 2% (the others were around an estimated 10% to 12%).

I've never seen it drop once, even in a farm party.

I've seen it drop more times in Garuda than the other two. But then again I also don't do the others unless I have to for WT. Saw it rain whistles when I did Garuda tank mount farms for all three tanks during HW. For a 3% drop rate, that horse showed up more often than Zurvan's bird even when his whistle drop rate was boosted.
