Do you respect or awed by level 50? No?

I respect 5Ø more than I would if it required all of the 'oldschool' bollocks to attain.
And I've never been 'awed' by a max-level player in any game other to be amazed that someone would so readily affirm terrible game design in a grinder.

If the only reason people care about content is so they can walk around pounding their chests in front of all the 'plebeians' that don't measure up, then they seem like a pretty unpleasant person, and I'm glad they're deprived of that.
Pursuing items simply because you want them is fine; it's only when you actively want others to not have them that it becomes an issue.

I don't respect someone for buying a lambo in real-life. I don't respect someone for winning a Lampshade of No Real Significance + 5 in-game.

Number 1. No because maat is FFXI and should stay there I don't wanna fight him anymore and his little taru friend.

Number 2. Have you seen the area's at night time? that would never work it would cause people to be stuck and trust me again FFXI 2006 flagging up without 1 party invite for 6 hours no thanks im comparing it to that yes I am.

Number 3. Raise 3? Raise is all you need, though a reraise spell would be nice but the game is very early.

Number 4. they already shine Holy shield +1 and curtana +1 im pretty sure in the future body armor will eventually.

Well, thats your opinion and i respect it, but not everyone enjoy being part of the mass like everyone else.
No im not lacking some kind of IRL recognition or whatever, i just play games to be at least distinguishable / better than the mass of average players.

If im not good at some game no matter how hard i try, i simply get rid of that game, even if i was actually liking it.
Because as i said if i cant be good at a game after putting effort into it, i wont reach my goal stated above and then the game loose its interest to my eyes.

The least ARR could have done is to reward you for X accomplishment with something that makes you stand out from the mass. Im not talking about achievements rewards.
( which are meaningless anyway since the game is too easy to begin with and even someone playing 3 hours a week will eventually get em )

I played XI from 2003 until this year. Neither I, nor anyone else I knew "respected" someone because they were at level cap. Nor did anyone I know go batshit insane over seeing someone in pimped out gear. I know that some players like to think the unwashed plebs of the server kissed the digital ground they walked on simply because they reached cap, or lucked out on rng for an item, but the "congrats!" you heard was merely a polite response (maybe a joyful one) for your good fortune, not a sign of awe or respect.

I don't see why we should respect or be awed by higher level people ... and I did get a Maat Cap in FFXI (my latest achievement before leaving the game I think).

My thoughts on the respect, Anyone who isn't a elitist.

Sorry but shiny strong weapons and attitude don't make you a good player, I respect those who can take jokes and have fun and not judge anyone because how they play, they spend money to get the experience like anyone else.

Sorry but even if I am high level I don't want respect cause I am high level or got really good gear, I just want to have fun on the game and if people are cool with that then mad respect.

Now here's a crazy idea. What if lvl 50 mobs were actually harder than lvl 1 mobs?

I kid you not I was running around lvl 50 mobs with my bf (we were both lvl 47) and just SWARMS of lvl 50 mobs attacked us filling the screen. Way more than is feasible in a dungeon. We absolutely crushed them by me spamming overwhelm in their general direction and had NO trouble killing them without breaking into a sweat. Keep in mind that we are complete noobs playing this.

Level progression needs actual challenge to ramp up because now it just doesn't feel rewarding to get to 50. I'm not even 50 and the lvl 50 mobs seem like a cakewalk everywhere! Come on SE bring the pain! We know you can do it in dungeons why is the overworld so lame?

I've never given someone 'respect' based off of an achievement in a video game, unless

1) They've achieved word firsts over highly difficult fights in MMOs, consistently.
2) They're in the professional field of Video games.

Everything else, especially gear, is achievable with time and persistence, even in FFXI. If I'm going to give difference to someone, it is going to be off of quantitative personal values that I can also respect outside of the realm of video games. Dedication, personality, teamwork, mutual respect, they're called values for a reason.

Just being able to spend time playing a video game, especially if you're not turning it into a career, just isn't one of those. Please keep your priorities straight, this is a pastime, not an esport.

Never felt respect or awe for high levels players in FFXI either, especially considering most of the gear in the game was pretty meh.

In this game, however, I've had many new players ask me questions like "wow how do you get that, it's so cool!" either in regard to something I have or something someone else has.

This game is being aimed towards the casual playerbase. "Well that's dumb because casuals don't stick around like hardcore players do". False. Not only is that entirely incorrect, the game brings in more customers by being casual-friendly and not making it so people break their backs trying to get to endgame.

There are still many cool things to get in this game.

I respect and am awed by nice, friendly, fun people to play with. Regardless of their item level average.
