The things we'd see if this game had a modding community like...

Are we talking about physically modding the game to it core (like adding new instances and stuff) or UI modding (which SE said may be there in the future)?

I enjoyed the WoW LUA api when I did some modding for QoS stuff. An advance bag sorter is something I'd probably work on. IE: Ores go into Page4, loot goes into page 3, etc.

It's probably viable, but I really miss the customization I can do with my WoW UI. I just wanna be able to scale things the way I want to scale them, and make my raid frames the way I want to see them - preferably smaller, but still giving me all of the information I need. I find that I have to make my raid frames really big to see anything on them. It's kind of frustrating. They're just so...huge.

UI Modding, I hope! lol. If SE is smart, they'll harness the creative power of their fans and let us build a better UI for them for free. :D

Only thing I worry about is if the game becomes too depended on battle mods. IE: When Lucifron turned into mashing the Decursive button to dispel his mass curse. Things like casting/using spells/abilities should not be given access (which Blizz deprecated in the TBC update).

I'd like to see a mod to extend field music more than a few minutes.

Blizz broke the crap out of mods that do that. There was the issue with that one mod that drew "in-world" during ICC in Wrath of the Lich King, but they broke that one, too (it really needed breaking...it just trivialized encounters -_-). That said, the ability to re-skin my UI, control what buffs and debuffs show on my party frames, and resize them...would be amazing.

Indeed, strictly UI stuff is where these addons shine. Another idea I was thinking which Erana reminded me of is a soundtrack mod. Customized every zone to play it's own custom music. I myself would probably replace it with a mix of XIV/XI music.

This of course depends on how much freedom SE gives us coders.

Oh yea, and a tool that actually tries to block gil spammers.

Don't know why I didn't think about it, but a mod that adds seasons to the game based on the in game date to the different zones would be pretty neat. They could even have botany nodes change depending on the season as well as what monsters are around! This is something the game designers would have to do themselves, but it would be pretty cool.

I would like a mod to fix the holes in the female dragoon armor. I like my armor covering my vital organs. Call me old fashioned.

Sony online MMO's have points in time you can create in game models and send it in so they can see if they put it in game and you get real money check every month when people buy your stuff. they even give you a refrence model to build around.

planetside2, EQ2, EQ, free realms and EQnext let you do this.
