People sacrifice good gear for "fashion"

and.... gears didn't help you that much.... since this game is mainly about Rank vs Rank mechanic

Exactly! I can't stand not matching and looking like a doofus.

stats make a difference, but at the end of the day it comes down to the performance and skill of the individual. The beauty of XIV is that the armor flows so well together that it meets everyone half way in their needs.

uhhh saying armor is useless because you dont get hit is kind of foolish, armor SHOULD actually be mostly about defensive stats. Stats do in fact effect you in this game btw, its just that for most of the main leveling, and even some of the bosses, you can get by without it.

you know how much difference 1 strength ring made in ffxi? not frickin much. It was only after they had so much gear and bonuses you could basically get like +70 strength from gear that it mattered, and even that only came out to be super usefull because you swap gear and not care that getting 70 strength gimped you in other ways.

and yes 70 strength is a noticeable difference. going from 100 to 180 strength my basic attacks went up about 27%

fact is it doesnt matter that much if your damage goes up 27% to most people because things gonna die regardless.

Why is that all you can do?

I wear Cavileirs chainmail (Black) cuz it looks better than vintage chainmail... I also wear Harrier's Jacket for as gladiator. I just think its silly to wear something that doesnt favor your class at all for fashion.
