Yea, Elexia and Firon pretty much nailed it. The whole game is Abyssea now. All the content and rewards from it that came before it are now obsolete. The level caps on CoP were removed from what I've heard (lol fuckin really?!?!?!?) They added a game-shark potion (again, lol....) SE completely destroyed what FFXI was.

Sounds like they chose the absolute worst progression model they could imagine. I mean, the only things I ever wanted from the game were the ability to solo and some rebalancing of the crafting system. It all sounds a little excessive. :/

In perspective:

Relic Weapons - Powerful (most anyway), takes months to years to complete.
Mythic Weapons - We do not speak of these, but even longer to complete and are same strength, some lesser, some more so than relics.
Empyrean Weapons - Takes a week or two to complete in right conditions and blows away Relic and Mythic weapons.

Most of the Empyrean Gear, known as AFv3, blows away quite a bit of "standard" gear like Sea/Sky/Nyzul and Salvage gear, while you can now upgrade sky gear, Empyrean Gear is significantly better for significantly less work.

Throw in Atmas and stat boosts, yeah pretty much blows away the equivllent Relic weapon and can be done in a week or two given amount of help you have and who has the pops.

So it's really up to your personal preference if you find this good or bad.

I'm not sad about relic weapons being dethroned, tbh. I found the concept (i.e. create a Dynamis shell and trick people into helping you craft it for yourself) to be terrible; it's WoW legendaries taken to a ridiculous extreme. :/

Wasn't like you were forcing people to come tho you spent all the gil for the glass and let people lot on the gear they want + money drops all you got was the money for the gil you spent trust me you don't wanna know the money i spent on my Aegis shield..... 100+ mils can i add you to my friend list!

1.) Relics were the best weapons in the game for nigh 8 years.

2.) Not Optimal =/= useless (or frankly even bad for that matter, it's not like they nerfed the stats on existing gear, those gearsets are still as good today as they ever were. There are simply better options now.)

3.) You don't give 2 sh!ts about everyone else's gear. The only reason you (or anyone) has a problem with better gear being introduced is because of the time YOU put into YOUR gear. If they nerfed everyone else's XXX Relic and buffed yours, you wouldn't give a single damn about anyone else and their time/effort.

4.) Nothing, I repeat, NOTHING (in the real world or the virtual) ever remains at the very top forever. Things change, better alternatives are created, people move on. The world doesn't stop for you just because you feel cheated that your 8 year old i-pod isn't as good as a brand new i-pod. The same thing applies to your relic gear, no one is entitled to every cent of what they paid back when theirs becomes outdated. If you don't like progress, I suggest you look into Catholicism.

Both. It's not as good as it used to be thanks to the recent updates, but pre-abyssea 75 cap FFXI was amazing.
