I agree! While I can respect those who want to get to 50 that is how they want to play. But games are also about then journey... that journey is to be enjoyed and as long as we are enjoying it who cares about the pace we take it at! :D

Its nice to see some positive attitudes about the game every once in a while, it really is. The unfortunate thing however is that saying the lack of polish and finish in this game is ALL that is wrong with it is statement an MMO vet can not truely take seriously. The gloom and doom is well warranted because if you have been a part of other poor launches you would know that more often then not poor launches get plug pulled. What alot of people forget is that this is a VERY expensive game. If they cant pull the revenue in this effort to make it playable, we very well may see this game pulled. The gloom and doom comes out of launches like WAR, AOC, Tabula Rasa, The matrix online, not to mention the further harm these updates may end up causing in the future, for example Star wars galaxies.
The mmo world is a fickle on and i guarantee you if this was not a numbered FF game the plug would have been pulled, and if it was a small company it also would have been pulled. It is up to SE to see if they can fix this game, and im very excited to see where the game goes, however the positivists cant disregard all negitivity as trolls, for alot of it is well warranted and those who are positive dont understand how close this game could have been to shutting down. Its just something to think about and so you have a perspective of why there is glooma nd doom.
Yes pacing in an MMO can vary greatly and its awesome that you like to take it slow and help alot of people along the way. The community needs more people that will do that, however the true problem is that the "journey" is not appealing to a whole lot of players, and a feeling of community is no where to be found. Unless someone happenes in to a LS, some of which make you jump through hoops to join, interaction is at a bare minimum. Unfortunately the community in the game is in such bad shape that it really does not do a good job at retaining players for a prolonged period of time.
We have a really nice feeling on our server and a lot of the shells actually have made friends with one another and we help one another. Our shell has a good sense of community to the point that we look at one another as more friends/family than people just playing a game together online. We don't make people just though hoops to join and we have about 80-90 members that are active, as do activities a few days a week that people do turn up for. We have dedicated crafter and gatherers that support and help the whole shell.
Actually my shell is a reason why I have stuck around, they are good people and bring the fun and community to the game that it is missing, along with other people on the server from other shells. We have been fighting NM's and had other shells run up and politely ask if we are still killing, we have either told them we are, and will /tell them when we are done, or one time we even told them that we had been killing it long enough and they could have it, then left. That is a good community, and I am lucky to have these experiences.
I've been playing games for over 25 years and I have been playing MMO's... gosh for probably a good 10+ years... lol I have even done text based games before online games were popular. Maybe I am just lucky with my situation, and I do see both sides of the coin because I understand the game needs fixing but I also see that they are trying. Until SE either crashes and burns, or they do bring this game to where it should be as long as I can be with the community I am in now I'll be happy. :)
As someone who had played many MMOs, quite a few from beta or start... I can say this game was released to early and it does need finishing and polish. They need to add content and fix it up, but the game is not lost... it's a good base and the improvements they have done at this time have helped the game. As long as they keep moving forward I will remain positive about the outcome, but always remember there are improvements needed.
It's really sad that the negativity here can pull everyone down.
I hope you continue posting what you think.
There are many good aspects of the game, but people who are satisfied tend to be quietly satisfied.
SE needs to hear the good along with the bad in order to move this game forward in the right direction.
So true! Not everyone plays this as a race to level cap or end game.
I spend a lot of time talking with friends, making things that people request, helping new LS members get NM drops, and recently just exploring off the beaten path areas.
I've been playing 4 to 16 hours a day since October and my highest job is currently R44 weaver. Some people have told me I'm playing it wrong -- but since I'm having a lot of fun with my friends every day, I really don't care about doing it "right".
I figure I'll get some jobs to R50 and higher eventually, but the enjoying the journey in our own way is what makes it all worthwhile.
If by unique you mean incomplete then yes i agree.
I think the negativity kinda puts in in perspective for a lot of people. A lot of players play and try and ignore the bad with the game or just not think about it, then they come on these forums and there's a lot of negativity and for the most part its warranted and these players feel down about the game because deep inside they agree with it all...although many of them pretend they don't.
