If it isn't worth it to you, go play something else. Anyone who has been gaming awhile knows that the FTP model *usually* does not go well for content. The other truth is that yes, IF YOU ARE PLAYING regularly, the sub model is CHEAP. If you log in 8 hours a month then perhaps your under $2 an hour can be better spent elsewhere. I am not even saying this to be an ass, but if you can't afford $15 in a month for one game, then playing these games is probably not a reasonable option for entertainment... you should instead be paying to feed your family rather than playing a game. After all, you have to buy a computer (or PS3/TV), have an internet connection (or a close neighbor with poor security), pay for electricity (or live with your parents, meaning again... what are you spending your money on?) and likely even have a roof over your head. These games are NOT a priority.
I could either go do this or become an alcoholic, and I prefer the 14 bux /month compared to the alcohol usage
You're completely missing the point. I doubt anyone that's unsubbed/thinking of unsubbing is doing so because the $15 they used to spend on FFXIV should really be going on tinned beans to feed their malnourished children, it's about perceived value for money. In the competitive MMO market these people are looking at the money they spend on FFXIV and thinking "Would this be better used on WoW/FFXI? Or on TERA/GW2/EQ2/Rift/LotRO/ToR, etc cash shop/premium subs? FFXIV needs to offer a service *at least* on par with these (and more) games, that's the thing that'll stop people spending their $15 elsewhere.
Yes, but I personally have two friends that I play games like Battlefield 3 and Dark Souls with. They both play for at least a few hours at a time and we have a blast doing it. I tell them I'm playing FFXIV and they say something along the lines of "Oh, cool. Maybe I'll try it out." and then find out there is a subscription and are completely turned off. It just doesn't make sense to me considering the fact that they both will spend $20 to go out and see a movie they have a feigning interest in simply because one of us invites them, but they won't spend $15 a month on something the three of will play a few days a week for a couple hours a play session.
2-3 lattes at Starbucks.
Mmmm pumkin spice.
This is why I dont play any other games. So much content for 9.99 a month.

The only thing that needs to be asked is "How much is your time worth to you?" Because that is the only thing that matters. Forget what anyone else says, you haven't met them, they are irrelevant. I mean, who honestly cares what some anonymous muppet on the other side of the planet thinks?
If you have Legacy and use the 6 month period its $7.99 a month or $47.94 for 6 months. Cheapest plan you can get. A lot of people with Legacy didn't even know you can get discounted even more.
My electricity bill costs me more to play the game than the actual subscription itself.
Yes, this is also my philosophy as well. $60+tax for a game that you can beat within less than 20 hours is just not worth it. Sure, 10-20 hrs might be alot for other genres, but since I'm an RPGamer 10-20 hrs is nothing; heck, thats usually when the story picks up for me.
This is my 1st mmorpg and I am liking it thusfar and will continue to subscribe until I don't feel like it anymore.
I will admit that $15/ month is a bit much. That can buy a game or a subscription to a game rental company.
It is worth the price since I haven't even finished the main story
