benediction

Glad to see this thread on here haha. I have been using benediction successfully without pulling hate off my tanks, and suddenly got yelled at the other day. It was a dps of course, but he told me it pulled too much hate and I would get them killed. In the interest of keeping the peace, I didn't argue with him, but afterwards wondered how other whms were making use of our awesome panic button.

In my experience, if you time it right, the mob won't even think about you long enough to realize how good your hair looks.

lol its great that u saved a guy from death and he yells at u..bene pulls hate.. it does overheal.. and use it whenever u have to sav a person from imminent death .. its there for a reason

Benediction pulls crazy amounts of hate. Every time I was unfortunate enough to use this crap on the p3 dreadnaught (solo heal ftw) it turns around and cleaves the raid to death.

Benediction does pull a lot of hate, since it's such a huge burst heal. In all cases, it's worth using if it means the tank will die otherwise. Also, if the tank can't pull hate back him him/herself, then it's less of a problem of Benediction's enmity generation as it is one of a tank being able to maintain aggro.

I regularly run with tanks that can keep hate even while I'm spamming Holy and following up with a clutch Benediction to save them.

Regarding Benediction, is there a way to enable it so that way when you use Benediction on someone who just dies, it doesn't automatically use it on yourself?

Ahh the days of Benediction tanking.../shiver. I remember in the macro for Benediction I would pretty much say booking for the zone now. Heaven forbid the mob zones after you. >.>

yeaaa! it's the best! whm's can put on cleric stance, where they switch mind for intelligence. Tank pulls a crap load of mobs, swiftcast>holy>holy>holy>holy>HOLY bam! and sch would be your main source of heals. we do our runs with pld, whm, sch, and blm. fun times to be had for sure! our last run took us around 13 minutes. :)
sometimes sch's can have issues.. like.. lag, or they get confused, and whm needs to step in and benediction the tank. it happens. :)
but basically the WHM turns into your main source of DPS.

Naturally when you are DPSing and you use benediction it pulls attention to you completely, and if you dont have your shroud of saints up, you can pretty much call yourself boned.

Another thing about benediction is say.. for instance, a warrior has 8k HP
They are down to.. 1500, and the mobs are hitting hard!
Benediction heals to FULL HEALTH!!
so you just did one heck of a heal.. That is 6500 hp restored in one heal!

or maybe, your whm catches that the sch is having a hard time with keeping the tank healed, he is down to 500hp and those mobs aren't slowing down!
that would be 7,500 hp healed.. so you would hope to have shroud of saints ready.. and swift cast.. so the way it would go is..
benediction>shroud of saints>swiftcast>holy>holy>holy(however many times it is needed.)
WP is tricky but sooo much fun for a whm, cause they get to do a complete roll reversal. :)

-tank has 7k hp, loses 5k hp, sitting on 2k hp
-benediction heals 7k hp
-3500 enmity, get.


way benediction could be slightly more useful:
-tank has 7k hp, loses 5k hp, sitting on 2k hp
-benediction heals 5k hp
-2500 enmity, get.

Cutting out all the risk would cut out some of the fun. You can already mitigate the threat boost by using Shroud.. :)
