Controller becoming unresponsive periodically

So I just read a thread regarding issues with the autorun feature causing similar issues with players in 2.1. I decided purposefully to avoid pressing the LB button on my gamepad, hoping that autorun had been the cause of the issues... unfortunately it only took about 2 minutes before I was slamming my head directly into a wall again.

Very annoying and still makes no sense to me at all.

I use a Logitech game pad and have these issues also but it seems more like lag spikes to me not a controler issue. I would really like a response on this. Also I'm still getting lag in the game when I thought the whole data center blah blah blah etc etc etc was supposed to fix the lag spikes.

I tried to resolve my issue by buying a new controller of a completely different brand. For the first day, it worked really, really well. But today, it had the exact same issues as before. (My original controller was an Xbox 360 Controller (Wired), my new controller is a Logitech F310 (Wired), two completely different brands). Also, I originally thought it had to do with my own network, but even when shutting off everything taking up bandwidth, I still had the issue. Because of this, I don't think it's an issue that can be resolved by changing hardware or by optimizing the network, because I've experimented with both, and the issue still persists unerring. I should also note that my ping to the servers has only ranged anywhere between 50ms and 200ms, which is as good as it can possibly be without me physically being inside the building where the servers are housed.

The only glimpse of hope I had to fixing this issue is that a friend suggested changing my game from fullscreen to borderless windowed, and the problem seemed to go away for a couple of days. But then it came right back and I didn't even do anything different. I tried toggling Fullscreen/Borderless Windowed again just to see if I needed to toggle it every single time, but that didn't resolve the issue this time.

My theories on what it could possibly be is some piece of hardware or software brand or model that we're all using that could be causing the issue, it could be some kind of network throttling by our ISPs that only affects Final Fantasy XIV and no other software, or it could be related to server lag.

Also, if it helps, I built my computer myself. So there may be some piece I missed or forgot to connect that may be specifically leading to this issue? Or maybe a specific piece of hardware is causing the issue? I know that, when trying to upgrade to Windows 8.1, my Rosewill wireless card was the direct culprit for it constantly failing, even without the drivers installed. I had to physically pull it out and junk the thing because it was a faulty piece of hardware with even worse drivers. I mean, I hope it's not a similar issue, but I would like to at least figure out what the culprit is.

I'm going to post my System Information here. If you guys could look at your System Information (Under Config in the FFXIV Launcher) and see if there are any parallels to my setup, that might get us closer to resolving this issue.

Cool, i just wanted to buy a new wireless xbox360 controller today cos i think it broke. While gathering for example sometimes it hits two times while i pressed one time, like it hanhs sometimes and gives double input. Glad it isnt me alone having this issue. After latest patch it was introduced i guess.

Attempted to fix by starting FFXIV in Windows 7 Compatibility Mode. No luck, problem still persisted. Also attempted updating my drivers (turns out they were actually out of date), and that didn't fix it either. Also tried uninstalling my controller's drivers and re-installing them. That also didn't work. So short of downgrading my entire OS to Windows 7 (incredibly tedious, incredibly expensive procedure) and praying to the technology gods for a fix to be found to this issue, I am officially lost.

Also, this issue has been occurring since launch and has remained unchanged through every single patch and update to FFXIV.

Addendum to further testing:

Going off of the advice of Square-Enix tech support, the following potential fixes have proven unsuccessful:

-Updating all Graphics Drivers
-Updating all Controller Drivers
-Unplugging all non-essential hardware (everything except Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor, and Power Supply)
-Disabling all antivirus and firewall software.
-Setting all Final Fantasy XIV programs to Windows 7 Compatibility Mode
-Disabling all software that uses internet access.
-Running Windows Update, then restarting.

I have also been told by tech support that FFXIV is unsupported by Windows 8 and 8.1, and that it could cause problems like this. I have also been told that the game is incompatible with Xbox 360 controllers as well, which, again, may cause problems like this.

I'm not going to give up, however, but I'll keep testing whatever I can to ensure that this very serious issue is dealt with.

Okay, I think I finally solved the problem. Apparently, in the early days of my getting a computer, as a college student, I was sent a microsoft offer for a certain piece of free software. That free software, which happened to be an SQL Server, was the primary culprit for me. Now everything's working fine for now. But if I experience further problems, I will be sure to come back.
