Agreed, fates are terrible learning places for healers and tanks (Medica spam, anyone?)
I'm usually that tank that keeps the adds off the healers in boss fates, unless of course there's some trigger happy bard training to be an athlete tanking the boss, then I'll try and grab that instead.
Kiting a boss (I'm looking at you, Bards) is very VERY irritating for any melee classes, if you can't tank it, don't take it.
This wouldn't be that bad if tanks can attack on the move better.
While I do think dungeons need to be more rewarding exp wise to keep ground with fates, another possibility that square could do is a New Game + type feature for all the non story quests players have completed (or even put the story quests in there too) and just make it so they don't give Gil, just exp. Least then you would have the same amount of options to level up more classes as you did for your first.
I fated my war and pld to 50 and I tank BCB. I ran the story dungeons and that was about it. To this day I haven't run sunken template, or aurum vale.
I think the problem with that is at higher lvls all dungeons are "speed runs" and you need super pwnLOLcatLVL9999l33t gear only, no newbs expericenced only, relic weapon. There is no going thru the dungeon and experimenting/learning the mechanics at higher lvls. (Also apprantely you also need a good, name. Ive seen a shout for a run where , they said dont bother joining
their group if your char has a name from anime becuase "It tells me alot about you". Yeah it does, it tells me you like anime...but thats whole different rant).
I can relate. Got into stone vigil with my whm and saw a pld tank taking way too much dmg then I notice he was in sword oath. He then cuss' me for not keeping him alive and I told him to use shield oath instead of sword oath. He said he didn't have it.
