If you're a white mage, you can also get to the one side of the ranged caster and use Fluid Aura to push him to the tank. Albeit, that's only helpful if there's just the one ranged attacker.

@OP
White Mages and their silly overheal/regen issues.
As someone that plays SCH and PLD I've seen it from both sides and heal aggro really is pretty much a WHM only issue or in some cases silly SCH that play the game with their feet.
I don't pop regen on pull, but try to stoneskin the tank before their pull (I interrupt SS if it looks like it'll go off during pull).
I also tell tanks to click regen off before pulls if they wish.
My only aggro issue is Medica II when solo healing HM Primal. ( ̄□ ̄;)
Then it is stressful when someone yells at you to Shroud when it's on CD.
Overcure draws much more hate than curing actual needed HP. And yes, that includes regen's HoT proccing every other second on a full HP party member.
I just think it is all about teamwork because really it could be a number of things as to why this or that person died. It could be tank, dps, you, their gear percentage, YOUR gear percentage etc. Yeah sure don't forget the 101 basics when it comes to healing and agro points. But sometimes when you're not healing at all, you do get hate. Had that happen once in CM run. I was just standing there because SCH kept healing everyone before me due to lag. So I'm just waiting for a moderate chunk of hp taken out on a tank for me to single heal when all of the sudden adds come for me. Like okay. Thats fine. It's wtf but what evers you know.
Not the time to think like that at the moment cuz now heres the part where I have to meet up with the tank so he/she can grab it away and at the same time, heal myself. Use sleep (if you can afford the sacrifice for a simple sleep) or Fluid if necessary. I don't have THAT much difficulties healing unless the party member's HP is seriously running low constantly. Then we have a problem because it seriously wouldn't be healer and you know your gear percentage is still pretty damn high and going...
And it also varies in dungeons on where you should stand. (Except for Titan? Idk I find it useful for me to stand splat right in the middle when he does his landslide crap. I may run into it and took damage but it beats flying out of the ring being useless.) Yes stand away from everything (most of the time) but its not really the best if you stand too far and the adds spawns literally right behind you. Oh and dodge the red attacks if theres a crap load of add mobs. Try to pay attention but its okay if you cant dodge it because sometimes the enemies seriously cornered you with reds all over. Skip the heal cast and save yourself.
