Heavy Armor Aesthetics

I like having different armor designs, but the 'trashcan' armor seems like novelty gear that more eccentric players would wear.

Kind of like Like Smough's or Catarina armor in Dark Souls.

Yeah, the trashcan is pretty lame, I wish they had a better mainstream heavy armor set...

Imagine if Darklight/Darksteel armor looked more like:

I put in a suggestion to allow removal of helmets on these combined sets way back in Closed Beta 1.... I'm sad they didn't listen to it and it seems a lot of people are in agreement.

I can survive with the DL Cowl on my healing jobs because at least I get to see a portion of my cute little lalafell face xD

But I'm saving PLD for my last job to gear up because I'm going to get AF2 Body and Head before I'd even think about putting that trash can on ><

My toughts exactly haha. I won't be wearing any DL piece besides the jewelry. I prefer to work slowly towards my AF+1 and use that one (even if I'm not a big fan of it either) than to wear that... that... that can. Hoplite will do until then, as it looks way way better and does the job.

Maybe without the helmet I would think twice, tho. But I'm not excited over it anyway >.<

Shameless bumping of a thread that brings up the relevant yet ignored issue of Vanity slots, or at least overriden full body Armour. I mean look at the amount of complaints Bioware got about the Jedi robes in SWTOR... at least they got smart and offered a fully customizable alternative to buy through the gift shop, making money in fixing the issue for those who cared.

I've been keeping an eye on the Forums lately and it feels like SE isn't really getting involved with them or sharing some of their ideas of "smaller" matters such as these, which is a shame. That's the sort of little things that makes you look like you listen and care further than saving the game from a financial disaster point of view.

Call me vain, but I just completely skipped the DL Body/Helm and got my Valor Surcoat instead. That + the Hoplite Circlet works fine. I could stand the DL legs, so I got those though.

I dislike the concept and look of heavy armor. One piece of armor taking up two slots of equip is something I am not a fan of. I hope tanks get better looking gear in the future. Maybe I should change my main to archer?

Yeah, I'm skipping the trash can armor altogether. The leggings ill deal with. Not the body part. Already have my valor coronet

+1 for refusing the trash can chest+helm.

As an aside; please stop combining chest and helm Items, it's utterly pointless, puts a needless wall on tank gear progression (as it takes longer for a tank to gain enough badges to buy a single item) and feels cheap.

I have DL Chest+Helm monster? Nice one! I buy my Myth Chest... and need to DOWNGRADE my helm? whhhaaaaa?

Considering the lack of tanks in the game, tying up gearing in this way makes absolutely no sense at all.
