I mean, I get you. It’s definitely a don’t know doesn’t hurt you deal. Best if everyone just shuts up about it. But so long as it keeps being brought up, people will keep shutting it down

It's pretty annoying when the apps work in ways that are readily discernable and there isn't anything that can realistically be done about them aside from the devs becoming aware and making changes to mitigate/remove any advantages they give.
The hunt system being effectively broken between the sensor apps and the various bots that have it integrated into their functionality has been one of the biggest sources of frustration for me for a while as even if I spawn a S rank in a zone that's virtually deserted if there is even one bot active there it results in people from across the entire data center flooding in before knowledge of the hunt can circulate locally.
I am not sure if it's a bot or a awesome person, but any time there is a S Rank spawn, they shout it out in my ward in the goblet.
I mean if we are talking about reshades - there now is a filter that lets you do P3 without butning your eyes in the process, and I think most of ppl who are defending the "console vs PC equality" will also say that this gives PC players an advantage

Its still surprising how people continue to justify game balance harming mods and addons like ffxivalexander, combo shorter, hunt callouts and bots, raid callouts and mechanic solvers and such. While "the most casual players want to witch hunt".
Most people dont use those tools, some use reshade, some replace ingame models or textures on their side to get hair cuts or different glams LOCALLY. There is a big difference between automatic tools that inject themself into game memory/catch network packets to give unfair advantage and harmless tools that only affect your game client.
But again this goes to a zone of what really affects you. Someone wearing a custom hair, make up, taking better screenshots than you, finding a way of dealing with ping or even knowing that they better go left instead of right in a trial will never impact me.
I can consider it a crutch, and do not use it because otherwise this will make enjoy the game less... And still not be impacted by others using it. Unless you're actually feeling you're competing with someone in this game, into which case, imo, you're playing the worst game ever to have this sort of attitude. The difference here is that for many people, the concept of "harmless" is way more broad and accepting than yours. You're feeling harmed by things that basically can't harm you.
If you're actually playing PvP and get impacted by a bot or a hack, then yes. This is actually harming your own experience. But for PvE? Balance in this game in PvE is simply job balance, it's not you against other people. This power trip doesn't exist in FFXIV, only in your own mind. The only possible way to compete with other people is actually by installing a third party tool and seeing if you're doing more DPS than then... And even so, you're into a group-setting so there's no reason to compete with the people that are working with you towards the same goal (clear a fight).
I follow a very simple rule.
Is it a multiplayer game? If yes, no mods of any kind. Play as the devs intend or don't play at all.
Is it a single player game? If yes, mods are acceptable so long as there isn't any kind of leader board and you have already finished the game by playing it without then.
This game, FF14, is a multiplayer game by definition. Therefore, no altering of the game should take place in any way shape or form unless it's already a dev added feature.
