I do find it odd SE didn't give tanks a way to refill TP just a little but in any case NIN still has Goad for Tanks and if the tank is getting low BRD/MCH should be helping too. At the very least TP and MP restore should be on one card and leave another open for some more useful.

Spear isn't useless, but for the most part it requires voice chat to be at its most effective. For 4-man content and players who aren't in coordinated raid teams though, you'd be right. In such cases it's nothing more than fodder for RR and LA.

Yeah, I thought of that idea as well. A maximum of two charges with the same 40s cooldown for each charge. I'm not sure if they have systems in place to support a skill like that, but it can't be too difficult to build. Hopefully.

Spear is useful on Mch, as it helps our reload and other cooldowns. I also use spear on tanks because they like to do big pulls and pop cooldowns.

I'll give you that. It's true, Machinists are frequently using CD's throughout. At one time I had that same mentality about tanks, but for some reason most of the tanks I've been in expert roulette's with rarely use their CD's, even when making a huge pull. Each time I think to myself, "here we go again, another tank that thinks CD's are only for bosses". Eventually I just stopped giving them spear when I saw that it was always going to waste, even after pointing it out to them.

It's really only DRK that has TP issues. WAR has a TP regen skill in Equilibrium but most of time it's used for a heal unless it's a continious fight like Alexander A2 where any TP gain is appreciated.

It seems like even in coordinated raid teams it'd be counterproductive much of the time.

Except if you wait for the AST to get a Spear before the pull and then pop CDs. Or something. But beyond that, I'm not sure any raid team wants to possibly delay cooldowns on the hopes that the AST will get an Expanded Spear at the right time.

It COULD be useful, but it sounds horribly awkward. I dunno. :O

The only time I found spear useful was during the A1S fight where I knew CD's would be popped namely HG/Holmgang or other defensive cooldowns during tank buster

Pop on over to the Tank forums and see what's been said about Paladin TP.
EDIT: Not that BRD and MCH doesn't help alleviate the issue, but during extended fights they still have trouble with it. I haven't brought Paladin up to 60 myself, but it held true enough pre 3.0

When i saw that AST would be a Buffer job i instantly saw "Synergist" (From the FFXIII series) i thought "yees i'll be able to cast a magical buff on BLMs and SMNs, defense buffs on Tanks etc..."
But then...RNG!
Why cant we be an actual buffer job who can choose which buff apply, which player will receive the buff, which moment is the right moment, without being killed by a HORRIBLE RNG system?
I would replace a bunch of AST skills by single buffs with a certain cooldown that you can apply to a player who actually needs it.
For example:
Balance: X seconds CD draws the balance card and apply it to the target buffing the damage dealt by Y%
Duration: Z seconds
The same for the other cards, i would feel SO MUCH more like a buffer job. And we could replace shuffle and draw by an useful CD (maybe a healing CD?) as it would not be needed anymore."
Of course this is just an idea, so calm down y'all.
