OP you shouldn't rely on BRD songs. What if you don't get a BRD in party? Do you demand for the party to stop running until you get your MP back? You should be more observant of your MP, you don't always get a BRD for Mages' Ballad and I would much rather have a BRD doing as much DPS as possible than worrying about my MP since that is my job.
WHY ARE YOU PLAYING A BARD IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO SING?!

Many many player are more worried about there rotation, because if you aren't putting out max dmg you can get yelled at by some random person. So to look up and see oo Mage need MP or Mage could use more DMG.
or The WARRIOR tank is out of TP oo wait they can't so the WARRIOR needs to talk to the BRD.. just like everyone else that wants them to do something.
Yes as a Warrior when Speed running I can and often once or twice get gated by running out of TP. -

What I mentioned is not a rare case at all, I've seen *many* non-singing bards pull their weight DPS wise. Just as I've seen many geared bards (that do sing) doing hardly any DPS and pretty much being carried.
For any non-raid (i.e. Duty Finder) contend ballad should only be needed if the Healers are bad. -

A BRD without songs is useless. Pick up blms instead if you dont want songs. -

What is funny here is majority of the talk are are just all circumstantial. BRD having the lowest single target DPS is a given but of course that is under a strict dummy situation. All talks about BRD and songs without specifying which battle and party composition is all moot.

I only play a song when a song is required such as when have a lot of TP users running out of TP or a lot of MP uses running low, the rest of the time song's stay off and they get turned back off the moment the TP or MP of group is in better shape. I am a DPS first, support second and I take a big DPS hit when playing most songs on top of having not the greatest DPS to begin with due to Squeenix not making up their mind if they want the class to be one thing or the other, a DPS or a support. If you do not like that I personally do not have a song up playing 24/7...too bad. You do not need a song up 24/7 unless your very bad yourselves at managing your own MP and TP pools but your don't see me whining about that all the time.
I will very rarely use Foe Requiem as I prefer to save my mana pool for when healers and other classes run into resource problems instead of using all my MP on boosting their DPS for a short period of time and having no MP left myself for when they run out of TP/MP later but that is a personal choice on my part and is my choice to make. I do not tell you how to use your skills or what your skill rotation should be so hold your tongue, keep your mouth zipped regarding mine. If you care so much about what skills I use on a bard, make your own and your free to use it how you want then. I consider it a nice thing to do helping you out with your poor MP/TP management at personal cost to my own DPS already so do not whine about me not also boosting your DPS too.
I wanted to be a ranged DPS class, like using bows and like the look so I picked archer, Squeenix added the annoying support skills to my advanced job when I just wanted more personal DPS benefits for advanced class on it. If you care so much about what songs are being played then make your own bard and play that 24/7 instead of making other classes and whining about what songs are being played because you can't even manage your own resource pools. I have never had anyone complain about my song usage but if they did start whining I would ignore them. I subscribe and play this game for my enjoyment not yours and I do help you with songs when I feel the need not when you do. If you do not like that then go cry me a river. Unless your not only willing to pay my subscription fee but also send me a pay cheque every month, you do not get to decide how I use the character which I pay to play. :) -

i only play songs if ppl in my party want it other wise i dont do itif your running out of mp fast then your doing something wrong cuz us bards also need MP to get our TP back up so we can use our skills
