We really should be able to glamour other jobs' sets

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there were no plans to ever add male Viera back when ShB released either, were there? They had a lore excuse and everything, yet here we are!

So I definitely think it's a matter of convincing them it's something worth looking into? Even if it probably is a complex coding hurdle, it... wouldn't be the first, would it?

The best moments to push it would be a question in an interview that is structured such as they cannot weasel them out of. Like how Yoshi started to talk about removing glamour restrictions would be ridiculous because people would glamour weapons on other jobs...

I guess my feeling with all this is that ultimately, there are a large number of glamours I have already made with existing pieces.

If they wanted to unlock everything for everyone, then yes, I could make some more cool glamours from pieces that are currently incompatible – but it would just be "more", and maybe I'll have ten different red mage glamours instead of seven.

It just feels unpleasant that the conversation is constantly about turning it into a sort of war, "how can we catch them in their lie and force them to do this thing they clearly don't want to do", instead of looking for other avenues we could take that they don't seem deeply uncomfortable about – like asking them to release more replica gearsets, or maybe open up specific non-stat-based things like the PVP gear. More likely focused on the things that don't look like they belong to any one class, though.

It's not really about trying to catch anyone in their lie. I can't speak for everyone, but I find that I am constantly feeling disappointed whenever new gear comes out when I see that the jobs I play continue to get gear I don't like, and I continue to see gear other jobs get that I wish I could wear but can't. This happens literally all the time, and I can't be the only person who feels this way. The solution is simple, yet the only time we've gotten any discussion on the topic was using a justification that just doesn't make sense.

If the goal of the game's glamour system is to ensure that all players are always distinguishable in regards to what job they play, then their goal has failed, and leaving all the role-locked gear restricted just doesn't make sense with that in mind. If they really want to ensure that any gear anyone can wear will always indicate what role they're playing as, then they need to make some extreme changes.

They'd need to...

1. Delete all joke gear from the game completely as well as modern, casual clothing. Bathing suits, wedding dresses, and mascot costumes completely eliminate any sense of visual identity for every job.
2. Add role restrictions for non-joke/non-casual gear that is currently unrestricted, such as Squall's outfit. That should exclusively be locked to Gunbreaker and no other job because it would confuse Final Fantasy fans to see someone in Squall's clothing as a black mage or monk or any other job. The same would be true for Yuna's clothes, Krile's clothes, Snow's clothes, etc.
3. Existing gear needs to be reexamined and redesigned to ensure they better communicate what role someone is playing as. How on earth are you meant to tell a tank from a physical ranged if both are wearing their respective Shisui sets?

If they cannot do that, or don't want to do that, then there's absolutely no justifiable reason to restrict any gear because choosing to restrict some gear but not others is called cherry picking. Either commit to the goal of ensuring visual identity is always crystal clear or let players have the freedom to wear the gear they want even if it's normally wearable by a job you're not playing. Pick one.

I don't see why we should settle for less when Square haven't even given us valid arguments against the removal of glam restrictions.

I have trouble with the limited amount of glamour plates with just the gear we can use now. If they unlock everything, I'll need at LEAST twice as many plates.

My brother in Hydaelyn most gear is just recolors/reskins of other roles gear. Or are we just gonna pretend that aiming/scouting/striking tend to share the same sets, or that maiming gear isn't just Fending gear with one less pauldron? What about that one Eden tier where striking had the misfortune of sharing healer's frilly white gown, or the final Alexander tier where scouting shared their model with casting? Hell, even now with Radiant armor scouting is sharing their model with casting, and healing is practically the same but with additional cloth down the middle. And don't even get me started on accessories.

At this point, there is genuinely no excuse for them beyond "I don't wanna :c" and it's getting real old.

i have six versions of the same necklace model just to use on other jobs.

Im a supporter of Job Identity and think Jobs should get their own Unique Armor Sets that nothing else can use.
...at the same time, I wish more armor sets where more universal, or By The Twelve please get a little more creative and try some new ideas.

More Mage Armor for instance. And I think we could use more Simple designs.
Id love a Knight/Paladin look that isn't HUGE BULKY Armor.
