i havnt been kicked just yet but i did receive a vote kick once.
Midas brute justice boss, the tank was decked out with i240 gear, and i had 220 gears.
After the jazz music started i did a quick small aoe heal, the tank lost hate, and i died. (the missile)
He gave a huge hissy fit and prompted a vote kick,
but then the other members started speaking up that even the DD were taking hate from him and that he sucked.
TBH i only seen a handful of tanks that werent able to keep hate on Brute, after the initial blast and heals (when i played both healer or dd)
I think the tank expected everyone to just sit still while he gained hate for 30 sec.
Back in 2.x I was kicked for pulling mobs to the tank in Haukke Manor. I was leveling my WHM, comfortable with stance dancing, the run was going smooth, the tank was queued with me, he gave me the okay and I wasn't over-pulling. Guess instead of getting a quicker run, they lost a healer and a tank, since he left after the kick went through.
Another was also in 2.x. During a PVP match I was kicked for switching to Bard because I wasn't having much luck as a caster. Oh well.
Got kicked from a Amdapor keep by 2 players I had a previous encounter with earlier in the day. I met them in leviathan EX and as a mentor I make sure if anyone requires info/tips on fight and no one said anything except the 2 tanks who "knew" the fight. The tanks dont stun the confusion mob and fell off the boat the second the rails disappeared. I ask again if anyone needed tips, the tanks assure me they know the fight once again do the same thing once again. I get on them about lying to me and there was no need to be shy but they they start calling me a "crybaby" for wanting to help the raid go smoothly.
Hence they are the type that dont like advice and pay their $15 a month to play how they want to and kicked me in that amdapor keep. I didnt mind tho as they were pretty bad at playing their jobs before I was.
The one and only time I've been kicked was in Tam Tara normal as a fresh level 16 GLD (was an alt character) and got grouped with super overgeared DPS and healer. I basically spent half the dungeon frantically running after them as they pulled everything ahead of me and fruitlessly kept spamming Flash until I received the "You have been dismissed from the party" message. Not sure what prompted a kick. We were flying through the dungeon even with me basically hanging onto the rear for dear life.
I remember being kicked from Copperbell HM about two years ago - me (pld) and a friend (drg) went in - cant remember the reason anymore, maybe relic? - and got paired with a new healer and a new dps. Both barely had the ilvl, using some weapons around ilvl50 (when it was already easy to get 90+ ones and everyone was speedrunning places like Copperbell HM). I'm taking it slow and we reach the first boss, that I explain. Buuuut... the other dps isnt listening and at that time its not really possible to solo the bomb. So we wipe. I explain again and ask the dps to help with killing it. Despite getting no reaction at all, I go in again. Wipe. Because dps isnt helping with bomb. I ask for it again. Nothing. Wipe. We're already 40 minutes in and not even close to killing the first boss, so I tell the party that we most likely wont make it because we dont have enough dps (they didnt only refused to help they were also badly geared and... bad).
Next minute I find myself back in Mor Dhona, with my friend following me - I figure they wanted to get rid off me because I was that mean, mean tank pointing out that we wont make it if they dont step up their game...
With pleasure. At least ask if it is ok if you roll need on gear you don't need instead of being a ninja looter... This is the most common reason for which I have votekicked people over the years. I would be fine with it if everyone could roll need for equal chance on gear, but this isn't the case and you just encourage a system that benefits tanks and healers (who can never have competition). Challenge the system instead of becoming a slave under it! :D
I have personally never been votekicked myself, but had a friend who became votekicked because people could not stand his way. I could certainly see why, but I ran the dungeon with him because he needed to farm some stuff, so obviously I left as my reason to keep running disappeared when he was kicked.
About a year ago, when there was no Heavensward and I was 50 with my first and only job (WHM), I was still new to the game and I was doing all the Main story quests. I queued for ifrit HM for the first time and we wiped once.
By accident I cancelled a pop up window. Then I noticed that we have 1 less member and we had to wait for someone. About 5 or 10 minutes later I saw that I was the leader and there wasn't any "finding new member" in the duty list and someone asked why in the party chat...
I said i would look for the option and I did but I couldn't find it. I didn't know and I kept looking around the party options...
so I asked, but no one cared to answer...
then I finally found it in the less expected place (at least for me back then), in 'duty finder'
(I thought "we are already in a duty, why would i look in df?")
So i hit it and got kicked 3 seconds later...
I dont blame them tho, even if they didn't answer my question, I kept them waiting for like 15 minutes :p
I've only been kicked once and that was way back when A4 was relevant and everyone was running it for for the anima. We wiped once and someone initiated a Vote Abandon. It didn't go through. And we were at like 20% left of the middle part, so it wasn't a bad run and I went, "We can do this." All that did was throw up a flag that I voted No on the abandon because next thing I knew I was outside the FC House.
