This is not Art Theft. If it were then the following images would be impossible (and they are not as they are all over the Internet):

For reference, these images represent a well-known meme. The meme in question is named the "Yandere Trance" and originates from an image of one of the characters of the Anime series "Future Diary" also known as "Mirai Nikki" in Japan. The character in question is named "Gasai Yuno" and is the living embodiment of the Axe-Crazy & Yandere Girlfriend Tropes. Here is the original source image for your reference:

What you have here is an example of what is called an "Exploitable" image. These are image templates that are missing defining characteristics and are thus easy to edit. They are extremely popular on image-boards like 4chan, and unless I am mistaken, do not count as Art-Theft, because if it did, 4chan and various other image-boards would be facing heavy lawsuits. That is all this is.
Oh, and yes, some of the images in the Yandere Trance Meme (not counting the original) are in fact done by professional Anime and Manga Artists who accept money for their artwork. Point is, this is a phenomenon on the Internet. You need to learn to deal with it. Heck, Anime and Manga Artists have been pulling this kind of stunt off on each other for decades… look at all the Rei Ayanami and Shana clones out there for the proof of the fact! Heck Bandai does it to itself, what with its mountain of Char Clones. If big name studios can get away with it, why can’t one no name individual?
That's a meme. The people making the memes are not doing it for monetary gain. They are simply doing it to convey a message.
Everyone on the thread agreed that it's okay to trace art so long as you SAY that you did. The artist has blatantly traced the art and yet claims that no tracing was used. That's why people are complaining. Plus, she wanted to charge people for it and that's just taking it that extra step too far.
Please make sure you actually follow the thread properly before trying to defend someone who has actually done something that's frowned upon.
Ethics/legality (with the sales) aside, I personally don't like the feeling of having the wool pulled over my eyes. Had they given some sort of credit to the original artist from the start, I don't think a lot of people would have had a huge issue with it. However, they only brought up the artist when shit hit the fan so to speak, and then they still claimed that they weren't traces (which was debunked a few posts later...).
Did you guys not see the part of my post talking about Rei Ayanami, Shana, and Char Aznable Clones? Yes what I posted is a meme, but that doesn't change the fact that copying other people's art is something that happens in mainstream Anime and Manga quite often.
Also, I am not defending the person, I am defending the Art.
