The server is full, try again later (1017)

I've gotten in a couple of times today, but 3 times today alone I've mysteriously "lost connection to server" and been unable to get back for some time.

Bet he doesn't have to spam the login like the rest of us...

they can at least let us use Enter button for all the confirmation. so that retrying is faster.

Currently, Clicking Start -> Character -> 1017 OK -> OK -> Start ..... is boring.

After finally playing for 20 min, game stops working. There were so many afker's in the center of New Gridania and throughout the guild halls.

try spamming the zero key on your numpad portion of your keyboard. It will act like the enter button as you describe.

reminder that also people whos chars got the 90000 then 3102 errors, those chars are also in a state of perma log in. This is also contributing to the issue.

Every time I have gotten the 1017 error I masturbate frantically for 10 min and try again. Needless to say after the last few days my penis is now more on fire and glowing red than Ifrit and The bowl of Embers.
Fix this before my penis spontaneously com-bust's SE!!!

Create a character on a JP server, log in, then log off. You can only have 1 character per account logged in at a time, so this will essentially "kick" your other character off. Some people have had success with this method.

Perhaps more disappointing is the lack of response from SE to ALL these posts in this thread. Would be nice if they'd at least let us know they're working on the issue and a timeframe as to when it'll be fixed.

...that is IF they're actually working on anything.

Yea i as well been victim of this full server crap. it ruined my prelaunch play as i didnt really get to at all. Yet again it seems i cant get on to enjoy what i paid to play thanks alot.

Moral(bad) of the story... If/When you get in, be an a-hole and stay logged in. Never log out, never surrender!

Not that it really matters, although it's a little weird, but when I try to log in now it gives me one error that makes me unable to see the JP servers at all, which is fine because I'm not using them.

Still can't play on Balmung. Hope everyone in game is having a good time.

Well I gave up for now after 40 minutes of trying I'm sick of it :/ I would rather wait in a queue... then be faced with the error.. I dont care how long the queue is, with a queue at least I know I have a chance of getting in and can monitor my progress and not have to spam to get in..

Seriously, you can't blame anyone for "gaming" the situation and staying in once they get in. Has anyone official explained why they thought no-afk-timer was a good idea? That only clears a "dumb as shit" mark if the server is sized to handle every account online at once.

They should restart the servers every couple of hours or so. At least the AFK people would be booted and it would give the rest of us a chance at getting to play some.

I've never seen a game nowadays that flat out denies you entry. There has always been a queue. That's ridiculous, I took today off to play. I am not a happy customer.

I am getting the 1017 error on Adamantoise(NA). They definitely need to get an afk timer in this game ASAP!!

What is SE's stance on using an automated clicker/macro to spam the hell out of the 0 key to get in?

Whats funny is, we haven't reached peak play hours yet... lol. Lesson learned, I won't log off tomorrow before I leave for work.

Can I ask , is this 1017 error due to people playing in thw worlds and that's why we can't get in or due to a fault on the server?! Bit confused tbh

I agree on the queue. I'd rather leave my PC on awhile than to hopelessly (with aggravation) try to log-in every few minutes.

I was in early access and faced this exact misfortune, which prevented enjoyment of the game.

Now, I'm unable to post in the regular forums because the servers are too full for me to hit 15 on any character.

I was one of the reviewers that had really though SE was changing around with the re-release of FF14. I even chipped in on the Collectors Edition, as a sign of good faith towards SE. Afterall, Beta went much smoother with ARR than it did with v1.

I feel like this is textbook carelessness towards the NA/EU fanbase on the part of Square Enix.

• No responses on twitter and next to none here.
• Phone service has taken some users several hours to be left without assistance.
• They know it's an issue, but haven't pushed towards a fix.
• They had this issue before... and still didn't learn from the past.
• Emphasis on their giveaway contests, instead of getting the game servers working correctly and crash free.

I'm very disappointed at what's happening.

Both. The login server can't handle all the login request. Couple that with the fact they've limited the server populations and don't remove afks, and we now have this problem. Right now their only option is rolling restarts of the server to continually boot afk players.

Same. I got on this morning and logged off for 30 minutes and haven't been able to get back on since. Once I get back in, I'm AFK'ing like everyone else when I need to leave.

I think we deserve some sort of official update - it's been a full day with nothing..

They have shitty servers and about half as many as they needed to handle peak hours during launch. The servers kept crashing because people kept trying to log into the game they just paid for, heavens to betsy!!! Their 'solution' was to remove the queue system all together and limit the number of people who can be online at once.

So now when you log in and the server is full it doesn't even try to handle your request and just spits out an error.

It's only 7am or so in JP. I wouldn't expect an update for another couple hours at least.

Dear SqEnix. The NA launch has been horrendous. I didn't even get a chance to play during the pre-release because of all of the technical issues and the servers going down for Emergency maintenance.

Now I can't get into the game, a game I paid for mind you. There better be some damn good compensation for this mess.

This damn error 1017 is STUPID!!!!

Why do we STILL have this problem after launch when we had to deal with it ALL through your joke of an Early Access period? Instead of getting fixes for this we get an apology post and a whole lot of nothing.

I, for one, am very upset about this. I pre-ordered the game and the only time I've actually been able to play it was last night, for about an hour. I guess I made a mistake in logging off of the game?

While I'm not upset that I've essentially lost out on $29.99 which is what I paid for this game on Amazon, I am upset that I won't even be able to play it to decide if it's something I'd enjoy or not.

At this point, I have absolutely zero intention of subscribing to this game just to be greeted with a 1017 error because Square Enix did not properly estimate how much server load there would be. I appreciate the nice note during the beta on "keep trying" but I don't have the time or patience to sit in front of my screen and push a button over and over to gain access to something that I paid for.

I wonder if I can get a refund through Amazon?

I wish people would stop saying 1.0 was just as bad... I was on palamecia til they merged some servers... I NEVER had login issues in 1.0... it started buggy but they were able to fix the bugs WHILE WE PLAYED!
